That was the original date provisionaly agreed in February. However, with the on/off movement of Gary Brabin, it has not been possible to confirm this. I have the tie now pencilled in for 25th July, but it is still in doubt, so I didn’t publish it.

Cambridge United’s website is currently showing them as having no game yet on Saturday 25th July 2009 and a ‘to be confirmed’ pre-season friendly at St Ives Town on Saturday 1st August 2009.

The first home game against Welshpool has been cancelled, at the request of the ground staff, to give the pitch that bit longer.

According to Leigh Genesis website they are playing Witton at Witton on 25 July!

Neither Pete Riley, nor myself know anything about this?

I have written to Mark to see if he knows anything.

I have now had a response from Mark.

It seems that although Gary Brabin was very keen to bring his team to Wincham Park, their board had requested us to pay their travelling expenses. This request made the game against Cambridge United a non-starter, financially.

Our Gary has moved quickly to organise an alternative game against Leigh Genesis for this date.

Looking forward to witton V rhyl.Ground is 5 min walk from where i live in Rhyl, train station 2 mins from my house.Nearest pub on same road as Rhyl fc is called The Millbank(Grange Road)they also do meals.Spar shop right next to ground

Please note that the normal kick-off time in Wales is 02:30pm, not 3:00pm as in this country!!!

Just bit more info if you are travelling to the Witton V Rhyl match on 1st august by car, there are parking restrictions in place around the town.Town parking is for unloading/loading only waiting time 10mins only this includes blue badge holders as well, side streets are parking for 1 hour only,so suggest you use car parks which are pay and display even for Blue Badge holders have to pay and display.Nearest car park which is central for Rhyl football club and the town is Morley road/Thorpe Street car park.Sat Nav LL18 3LR.there is limited parking at the ground, and normley have to park on the roads around the ground.Hope this is of some help.
