In response to the lack of topics any thoughts on 24 teams in the league next season?
Plus point-more revenue
Negative points- probably an earlier start to the season, more games, more cost to fans and a longer season, worn out pitches.
Cant understand why the league is being expanded beyond 22 to 24 when it needs to go the other way and drop in size.
All down to revenue, still think football at our level should be played in the so called “summer months”.
Mind you WHS wouldn’t be able to attend due to his umpiring duties.
Howzat work then?
Heres a thought from the bean counter…more revenue but only better off if over the same weeks as rarely does a home game actually cover the cost of a weeks wages.
In theory it may not result in more games - we come in the FA cup, FA Trophy and League cup a round later in this division as - in reality we would like to progress further but if, like this season you have no replays its not so bad.
Haven the league also scrapped the chairmans and presidents cups? Replacing 2 or 3 of those games with a league game would be a benefit for sure.
Alot of people prefer the league to the minor cup competitions which sadly now rarely draw enough people to make them worthwhile (especially if there are distances involved)
I would welcome it personally and would hope 1 of the 2 (whoever it is) means another more interesting game that we have had in recent seasons!
My genuine concern would that currently in a 22 team division, you have at least 2 clubs that really can’t afford to be playing at this level.
Eastwood’s problems are well documented, but there are also rumours that Whitby will be playing in the Northern League next season. Kendal have also changed their philosophy, and look to be cutting costs.
Every season we see similar examples (see Durham a few years back).
By increasing the league by another 2 teams, are you not just adding to the problem?
Due to illness I am unable to Umpire anymore so I would be happy to see Witton play in the summer months without of course a certain gentleman in the side. I have to say I have read so many positive remarks on here about him I am beginning to believe it is not the same player I know of! As for 24 teams, as long as there was more promotion and relegation, say 4 up 4 down I would be in favour.
WHS.
Unless everyone played in the summer months how promotion/relagation work? Also could be problems with cup competitions.
As long as teams cut there cloth accordingly shouldn’t be a problem.
WHS come down to 1 game give him a chance. See what we’re all banging on about. Honestly think that you would be pleasantly surprised. Lets all pull together as one for 2013.
UTA
Must say WHS that he has been a fantastic signing so far. Not quite as good as Bale, Bale, Bale!!! I’m “stumped” why U don’t attend. Some comments “crease” me up!! I’m bowled over!!! ha ha SBL
WHS
You keep banging on about how you wont attend because of a certain player. If you don’t want to attend then don’t, but don’t keep coming on here or other websites saying what a disgrace he is.
You don’t know him as a person and blame him for our own players stupidity in retaliating to things he has allegedly done.
At the end of the day you are on your own on this one.
Steve Foster has been a terrific signing for the club and would much prefer him in the side than not. His goal at FCUM although it will not count was brilliantly taken.
He has been an oustanding player throughout his career and long may it continue for us.
Get over it.

Getting back on topic, as Neil says financially it will benefit only if the season stays in the current time frame. If the season is extended for these extra league games then clubs will be out of pocket.
We will have 46 league games, minimum 1 game in FA,Fat,Csc,Mcsc, league cup so a 51 game season, throw in 7/8 friendlies you are roughly looking at a 60 game season, with only an 8 week break before pre season starts.
I think that no one disputes being able to watch your team more is a good thing but I think the FA have simply forgot that we all have full time jobs and the impact for players and fans will be a telling factor.
SIG I have discovered very late in life that being in the minority doesn’t always mean you are wrong. I opposed the Incinerator even before CHAIN got started, I think I have now been vindicated on that one. As for Mr. Foster, I have never doubted his football ability just his attitude on what is acceptable behaviour on a football pitch, old fashioned I know but then again I am an old man. I will always be a Wittoner but under my own rules, not someone elses. As for more games next season and the FA, since when did the FA give two hoots for anything but the Premier League and even with that they are only concerned with the top six or seven clubs, the rest just make up the numbers.
WHS.
Just to clarify; is it possible to state the character flaws and areas of his character that you dislike? And also to cover off these incidents of cheating?
I’m still trying to understand your stance on this you see.
