If some people can’t afford or simply don’t want the season ticket that’s fair enough but i don’t think any of us can grumble at the slight increase. There were some club’s charging more than our new prices last season with nowhere near as good a ground and facility’s as we’re blessed with (stafford being the obvious example). I for one am very proud of our ground and what we’ve got to offer and i’m sure that many away fan’s that come to the H4H stadium would love to be in our shoes. UTA
Why not just make it £10? £9.50 just means you are stuck with 50p and you won’t get much for that, before you say Ste I know you can put it in Tracy’s Bucket ha ha. But seriously why not just make it £10?
We got an increase in attendance last season for 2 reasons. Firstly our success the season before and secondly Lack of competition. 1874 will be playing next season albeit in winsford. Some people will go and watch them who watched us last season. The hardcore wittoners will pay whatever price to watch the Albs. But it’s the fickle fans we need to keep and turn into hardcore wittoners. Not sure what 1874 will be charging? But they will be cheaper than we are because of the level they’re playing at. People want value for money other fans of clubs in our league have said they think we’re expensive. We don’t want to be pricing people out of games and sending them to 1874.
Correct.
What do you suggest would be a good price for a top 4 NPL team?
Personally I would have left it as it was. But understand why they have raised it with the rising costs. Think we have some good fundraising initiatives but think the board could be more vocal in backing some. Easyfundraising and Easysearch are prime examples of where I think they could be more vocal with there support. When Paddy Power offer was at £40 for £10 spend (still £20 for £10 at the moment) we raised over a grand. There is money to be made for our club yet the board has been very quiet on this. Instead the lazy option imo is to raise admission prices. I also understand how busy they must be with everything else that goes on with the club and there own lives. But it only takes a couple of minutes to post something on here or the Facebook page.
I sit on a board and I can tell you it takes up a lot of time, not just meetings but keeping up to date with new information and reports. You may say it only takes a few minutes but if our board are as busy as I am, and I am sure they are minutes are at a premium especially if you have a wife and family too. I have to say I personally find it much easier to donate a tenner every now and again than commit to giving up time, I am very grateful to those who do give of their time as without them, NO CLUB.
WHS.
If we look around other teams in our league there is a huge spectrum of admission prices ranging from £7.50 up to £10.
The addition of the extra 50p could be the difference between mid table and play off push.
I dont think the extra 50p increase will stop people from coming, Stafford charge £10 to enter the ground and a further £2 if you want to sit in the stand!!
Don’t get me wrong I really appreciate all the time and hard work the board do. However I do feel we need to move with the times, social media is massive these days. We have a great podcast, forum, Facebook account and twitter. I think the board should utilise these to help with fundraising. Our new neighbours are and to great effect. A board members suggestion carries a lot more weight than someone like myself.
If the Board are anything like me they are still using Gas TV’s!! Seriously the social media sites are not something most older people get involved in. Maybe someone like you could take it on with the information coming from the Board, if not you I would trust Robbo with my life, he could do it, if he has the time as he works damned hard for the Club already.
WHS.
There have been a few of us who over the course of the season have slowly brought some of the board members around to the social media side of things. The podcast is something Robbo and myself have worked very hard on to develop and we are finally starting to get it to where we want it, and it has support from the club.
Social media is something that I am very passionate about when used correctly and in my role developing marketing, pr and media for the club I’d welcome any suggestions as to how best take it forward.
I’m always available via email (programme@wittonalbion.com) for suggestions and want to work harder to ensure we spread the Witton message as far and wide as possible and attract people to the club.
We have to accept though that not everyone has access to twitter, facebook etc and have to find alternative routes to getting the message out. This is why I have asked Dave Kettle to come on board with Albion Review this year. Two of us working on it with the regular contributors can make it a more fluid thing with better and more club specific articles.
I’m also working on one or two side projects that we dipped our toes in water with last year such as the Wittoner.
However my door (or inbox) is always open to new ideas as it has to be about what the fans want.
I have mentioned it before but never tire of it. We should really try and get some radio coverage going. I should probably look into it a bit more though first. Would be great for people who cant make the games.
I’ve been desperate for this project to take off. It could be really useful for away games!!!
I’ve listened to some of our rivals coverage and we can do better
I think that the radio idea is a great shout, if you do look into it Ste and find a cost I would be more than happy to help raise the funds.
A lot of the basic equipment is fairly cheap, but it’s more the technical aspects. Wll try to push it forward this summer and come back with some costs in time for the start of the season.
I think we could recoup the cost if people pay a small fee to be a guest co-commentator. Not sure how that fits in with Jay’s “we will sound better than other clubs” though
You didn’t hear half of the guff I listened to this season when I couldn’t come away. Naming no names
Reckon we can get in game analysis from Pritch?
How about we meet up once a fortnight/month on a Thursday night in the club. Could be good for brainstorming and helping out with these projects?
I’m up for that Woody where possible
