4 match ban for Kearney?

IAN Kearney faces a four-match ban for his sending off against Telford.

The FA today confirmed the defender’s punishment for allegedly kicking out at Steve Foster in the closing stages of Saturday’s play off final.

They will now face the opening weeks of the campaign without Kearney and Chris Gahgan for red cards in matches against Rob Smith’s men.

Last week Gahgan was slapped with a three-match suspension last week for headbutting Foster in Albion’s 1-0 defeat to Telford on April 24.

On Saturday Witton said they would look at the video before deciding whether to appeal against Kearney’s dismissal

i would be v suprised if the video of Saturdays game showed whether your player did kick Foster or not? it happened right in front of me but i looked away and missed the incident so i’m not sure eiether, people around me did say that he did kick him though.

With no Kearney for the first four games it will be even more important to keep Tony Barras on the books. I hope we are doing this anyway as Barras had a tremendous end to the season and despite injury was an essential part of the defence. Whilst the plan maybe to go with Kearney/Pritch as the regular two central defenders I believe we need to keep hold of Tony, his experience is hard to find and he could be a valuable asset to us.
