Paul Lavell writes in the Vics book that Vics and Witton fielded combinded teams in Charity Matches against Liverpool and Manchester City before the first world war
In more recent times too.I remember my dad telling me of a combined vics/witton team playing a football league xi containing players like Bert Trautmann and Billy Liddell in the 1950s. I think it was to raise funds for the building of the original memorial hall.

The club formed in 1874 also used to play in red, It was only after the merger in the mid 1890’s that the colours changed to green,[/quote]
Why didn’t Northwich Victoria 2007 change the colours from what Northwich Victoria 2004 and Northwich Victoria played in?
Billy Liddell taught me how to Scottish Dance in the 1950’s.
True about the combined teams, the club boards were very friendly before WWI.
The clubs also played Charity games against the local cricket teams, they had some fine cricketers at both clubs. The Paul Lavell book may now be available if anyone wants one, contact Wayne Porter.
