across the canal

i keep hearing from different people that our friends who play at the stadium of half complete are really strugling financially. it is obvious that they are playing at a level that they cannot afford. it would not surprise me they came and asked whether they could share wincham park sometime in the near future.

thats what nay-bours are for. to help each other out. init?.

But would that be fair on our Linnetts friends?

As great as that sounds, V*cs are doing a very good impression of a team who are not short of a few quid!!! But for how long??

Until they remember that they have to give Mr C. £50000 this season, and next season, etc., until their contract with him runs out. As has been pointed out with the Ronaldo saga, a contract works both ways, which means that they would have to buy themselves out of the contract with Mr C. before they can move to another ground.

I love Mike Connett. Next time I see him in Knutsford, I’m going to buy him a pint.

GEOF - I KNOW THAT R.L.F.C. ARE PLAYING AT WINCHAM PARK NEXT SEASON BUT THEY ARE EXPECTING TO BE PLAYING BACK IN RUNCORN FROM 2009-10 SEASON.

Hi Raul,

I think your right, but I think it is more hoping, than expecting, if you know what I mean. Do Linnetts have a contract with us, and if so, when is it reviewed/renewed?

Jeff

JEFF - R.L.F.C HAVE AGREED WITH WITTON TO PLAY AT WINCHAM PARK FOR THIS COMING SEASON. THE FOLLOWING SEASON 2009-10 THEY WILL COMMENCE PLAYING WITHIN THE GROUNDS OF A COLLEGE IN RUNCORN . I HAVE SEEN THE PLAN OF THE GROUND WHICH WITH DUE RESPECT LOOKS QUITE BASIC. THIS WOULD THEN LEAVE AN OPENING FOR OUR GOOD FRIENDS ACROSS THE CANAL.

I would prefer v*cs not play at our stadium. Anything but that.

2 weeks ago i was taking to mike connat at my work
apparntly he is looking at the option of moving V*Cs out of marstons areana and replacing them with either a rugby or cricket team
(which he has more passion for)

he claimed it with the cockyness of the v*cs players that makes him dislike football now as they are to cocky for his liking.

I KNOW SOMEBODY WHO WORKS FOR MR.CONNET WHO TOLD ME THAT THE OWNERS OF NORTHWICH VICTORIA - THE CONSORTIUM WOULD LIKE TO BUY THE STADIUM OFF HIM BUT CANNOT OR WONT PAY HIS ASKING PRICE. MR.CONNET IS PREPARED TO SELL UP TO MAYBE A RUGBY CLUB OR ANY OTHER ORGANISATION. WHERE WOULD THAT THEN LEAVE OUR GREEN FRIENDS.

HOMELESS

Yep, homeless with no where to go
An inevitability when it comes to a team like v*cs…maybe they would goto a field around the Northwich area? Or possibly even ground sharing with Lostock or Barnton?

Not interested, regardless of their situation V@cs always come out of adversity smelling of roses.

We should be more concerned with our own situation, and generating the cash neccesary to maintain and stay in our own stadium.

Nice to see somebody else is at work at this ridiculous hour Andrew. I agree, lets look after ourselves. We can’t influence what goes on over there, but we CAN influence the future of OUR football club.

Vics who?

This brings us back to the old chestnut of can a town as apathetic as Northwich have 2 football teams never mind 2 football grounds. We have both clubs struggling financially (I know we are in reasonable shape but we cant keep selling land forevever) and maybe a ground share with a rugby club, hockey club etc in the heart of the town is the way forward.
No doubt this wont be a popular post but we must start to look to the future to ensure a football team is still playing in the town 10 years from now.

Witton Albion will still exist in 10 years, I’m in no doubt about that. However, I agree that something needs to change. The “boom and bust” cycle of the clubs in this town is too frequent now and at some point it could all come crashing down. But who knows what the future holds, I for one know that the people in charge at our club will always do the best for the club.

Excellent posts Chad and Greenie.

Vics will do a good enough job on their own of planning their demise, they don’t need assistance from us. Suffice to say that Mr Rushe has already offered his resignation due largely to certain decisions and concerns over the ability to survive based on the current overspend. They will struggle to make ends meet but frankly it is their struggle and I vote with Robbo “vics who”? I don’t think we waste valuable energy giving them a second thought, they are of little consequence to us.

Our first priority is to achieve stability and sound management of the club. Mark Harris has performed excellently in the role of Chairman over the past couple of months and more and more fans have played key roles in steadying the ship. Mark has been very open with regards to information and has no agenda other than putting the club on stable footing. Their have been unquestionable administrative and managerial mistakes previously and we need to learn from these to avoid them being repeated. We are not under the severe pressure that many club’s face regards debt and creditors, but we have to look at revenue generation into the club and our short/medium/long-term plans. There are club’s with either private benefactors (or less financial awareness) that will spend twice our weekly playing budget next year with less crowds than us! The question is how long until this bites? Our plans have to base spending against revenue generated (something the Mrs has never understood)!

So, energy needs to go into promoting everything that is positive about Witton Albion Football Club and focusing all our efforts on increasing gates, generating more funds, improving our facilities and above all making progress in whatever form that takes. Mid to long-term the plan quite possibly relies upon the sale of our current land and development of a new ground (the main benefit of which would be attracting more sources of revenue into a facility and the possibility of increased gates). Any decisions in this direction need to be carefully taken as they have risk attached and therefore at the moment let’s focus on what we have got, build from there and concentrate on this month by month.

I’ll shut up now!
