Life, death, taxes, and promotion-related price increases…
What do people think would be a fair admission price for next season?
Currently at £8.50 we have tended to be £1.50 higher than the average across Division 1.
Next season in the Premier Division (feels good saying that!) £8.50 would be about average.
Of the teams advertising prices ont heir websites, Chester and Vics were both £10 (standing), but have now both gone (in opposite directions…).
Of the bigger clubs, FC United charge £8 at present.
Of the teams left in the league, Hednesford are currently the most expensive at £9 (standing).
Most other teams are £8 - £9 (i worked out an average price of £8.60 for standing).
What would people expect to see Witton charging next season?
I personally would like to see the board take a brave decision and keep prices as they are to build on the fantastic momentum we had towards the end of last season on regards to increased attendances through attracting (and retaining) new fans.
Higher attendances bring about higher revenue streams from other activities, be it tea hut, programme sales, merchandising, or fundraising through various other donations (bucket, predictions, golden goal to name but 3).
I agree with Robbo we are in a unique position in the clubs history. Keeping the prices the same puts us in the strongest position to gain new fans and hopefully encourage some of the fans who turned up for the playoffs to attend more games. We were the biggest club with the best ground in Evo stik north so prices were justified imo. In the prem there are bigger clubs than us and admission ranges from £8-£9 £8.50 sounds very reasonable.
£8.50 Would be admirable and we would grow our income by better gates and more atmosphere= more gates etc etc but would not be upset if it was £9 with a reduction for season ticket sales I think with a push we could sell quite a few more this season
I take it the prices quoted by Robbo are season 20011/12 and may well be subject to increase over the summer?
I think an extra 50p per full paying adult would be a fair increase - leaving all other concessions the same.
A big push in schools before the summer holidays would be great this year - Could someone from the Club please answer if we are having some kind of leaflet made up, I’m happy to take a bunch into my local school.
TOF, i have taken into account teams who have already announced next season’s prices. For example, Ashton were £8 last season but have announced plans to charge £9 this season, so i have used the £9 figure to get my average of £8.60 across the league.
As an aside, we’ll be looking for more junior teams to come and play on the pitch at HT next season, and we are hoping to annouce some exciting news regarding taking Witton into local schools at some point next week.
I notice that our season ticket prices have stayed the same as last season but whether that has any bearing on admission prices I wouldn’t be too sure about.
I really think to hold at £8.50 would be a great gesture to the faithful Wittoners who kept coming in the First South and North. We had the biggest crowds at that level and we will get bigger attendances in the wonderful Prem…COME ON THE ALBIOOOON!!
Anything above that is simply too much. I know a number of casual supporters that will think twice about coming if it is anything higher. Keep it the same, continue the fabulous community work and carry on building our reputation up.

I wouldn’t begrudge paying £9 but have to agree with Left Pegger in that if an increase from £8.50 makes the difference from some wittoners, new fans etc getting down to WP then it may be beneficial to keep it the same as last season. I’d be happy with whatever the board thinks right to build on the fantastic position we are in right now

TOF,
I did PM you a week or so ago, if you want some passes I can get some to you.
I’m hoping they remain the same as last season. One of Non-League’s biggest attractions is that it’s affordable. We’re staunch Wittoners, £1 extra won’t put us off, but it might put floating supporters off.
I agree and I think it would make sense for the price to be released sooner rather than later so that current and potential new wittoners know the score in advance of the season.

Chairman Ian Dobson said “we’ve been able to hold admission prices for the last few seasons but with fuel prices in particular rising so sharply, our transport costs next season will be significantly higher so we have no choice other than to implement a modest rise. However we have done our research to make sure we are in line with the majority of other clubs in the division.”
Dobson confirmed that the club is looking to expand its community initiatives next season, focussing on discounted admission for schools and other groups. “league rules allow us three dates in the season when we can offer special, promotional prices so we are now looking at how best to take advantage of being the highest placed team in the town”.
Anyone wishing to purchase a season ticket can do so by sending a cheque – payable to Witton Albion FC – to the club. Alternatively payment online can be made at www.wittonalbion.com and click on Club Shop.
