One team played football and at times passed the ball around superbly, one team played long ball, wasted time, continually fouled but crucially had the referee in their pocket. The visiting 'keeper was named man of the match, but really it should have been given to the man in black, who hugely influenced the game in Chorley’s favour. A disgraceful and shameful performance by him; we have a thread about how respect should be shown to the officials, then we get the provocation by the referee that we saw tonight.

I think it will be some time before I can bring myself to go to watch another league game, I cannot accept what I saw tonight, if it was incompetence surely he would have been equally incompetent for both sides. But we all know that nothing will happen about it. To me it makes a mockery of the season. So well done referee, you have succeeded in taking money out of the game by driving away a spectator. Congratulations, I hope you are pleased with yourself. I will be back to watch the Albion of course, in the hope that very game I watch will be officiated by competent neutrals, even though sadly I know this is a forlorn hope.

The ref couldn’t wait to give Chorley that penalty, some Chorley fans near me were even suprised it was given they were saying “well there not complaining”. Actually think those comments about Chorleys play a little harsh. Their second goal was offside and WE HAD A PENALTY when thier defender was booked, the offence WAS IN THE AREA. Sheehan was a bit lucky he could have been sent off for that rash challenge. Anyway how the hell we lost that game 3-1 I’ll never know!!!

By no means did we deserve a 3-1 defeat tonight. Although we paid the price for a poor first twenty and struggled to break down their defence in the 2nd half.

I love the way we play, our passing and movement is a joy to watch at times. However, I’d absolutely love to see us be more clinical in-front of goal. There’s times when I wish somebody would just belt it when in their area, rather than take another man on or attempt a difficult pass. In no way am I criticising our style of play, I’d just love to see us put away a higher proportion of chances.

As mentioned before, the referee was absolutely appaling tonight. I have no other ways of describing him, an absolute disgrace. :red :red :red

Hopefully tonight is a bit of a kick up the arse, we were good at times, but not as good as we know we can be.

On a positive note, great attendance. Chorley probably brought about 50 so that leaves over 400 Wittoners for a midweek game, absolutely brilliant.

Chorley were hanging on at times particularly in first half but had enough guile/experience ,more than WAFC I felt.We gave a good side a run for their money but once 3rd goal went in ,that was it .Also should note way Flitcroft used the squad-,WAFC just looked even more tired whilst Chorley subs buzzed around.Extra striker in Buchs a fair idea but meant all the 3 man defence could do was lob it long. They had extra man in midfield all night .

And no one has mentioned the naked player incident. The ref let chorley players dictate to him as did the linesman on the main stand side.

Why did the ref not make player leave the field of play whilst de-robing? And to allow him to get naked is a disgrace. There are criminal offences committed there tonight.

Chorley dominated at first getting two lucky goals but they weren’t against the run of play. However a lot of teams would allow themselves to be dead and buried at that point. So well done to the lads for digging in and making a game of it.

Their striker was class. Held the ball well and they were a good team. I’m sure they will be in the mix at the end of the season by bullying out results. Maybe that’s what we need to be doing in this league.

As someone said to me last night there were a few villages missing idiots.

Well in my opinion if you gift the opposition 3 goals then maybe you do deserve to lose 3-1 ? yes the refereee was very poor but I thought we had an off night maybe caused by the pressure from Chorley who were up for it, we huffed and puffed against there long ball game and time wasting - not pretty but effective, witton wasted the ball regularly and went long too often, and our crossing was woeful all night, our strikers were well marshalled by chorley and mosty of the threat was from the flanks with a couple of attacks and penalty claims our best chances, chorley I think overall won the midfield as suggested and is probably why they won the match although they did have a big hand offered by the ref who made several dubious decisions that cannot be justified

We will have better matches and i think the crowd appreciated the efforts by clapping off the team which shows we still believe in them, so UTA look forwrd to saturday.

Mike forget the ref enjoy the football

(“used the squad” “subs” ) you say re the opposition. only one change from us maybe should use the squad more ? what about the 1st twenty minutes thats what cost us. the manager is damned if he does damned if he doesnt other fans will say oh change it its not working etc…Maybe pritch should hang up his hat and let some of the players make the decisions…maybe some are getting ideas above their station…too big for their boots…?

Cracking game of football until the 3rd Chorley goal and then ‘that decision’ allowed the game to peter out.

I thought we were worthy of a draw, but wouldn’t begrudge the win to Chorley who having played us very recently, adapted their game plan and some of their personnel to suit.

I don’t want to blame the referee for the defeat, because it sounds like sour grapes BUT he was absolutely incompetent and every aspect of his game was flawed, no control, baffling awards, the striptease ??? and the decision not to award a red card and a penalty having stopped the game and by definition having seen the incident, defied belief.

Chorley pressed well, started very strongly, were competitive for 90 mins and will be in the top 3 this season, so no disgrace in defeat. We need to get a sense of perspective in how far we have come, BUT we do also need to make sure we’ve got the resources and the personnel to operate a plan B, a bit like Swansea last season. I love the way MY football team plays and tries to play the game but we may have to adapt that a little, certainly as the pitches detioriate(not WP!!!) and the opposition get stronger/bigger and more organised than those we have played previously!

UTA

1 defeat in 18 competitive games ! The club is in a deep crisis

At least the tea hut has improved of late.

I’ve written a report on the game last night.
