Albion v FCUM (FA Trophy)

Team: Cooper (GK), Powell, Harrison, Joseph, Brown, Andrews, Breeze, Sheehan, Hancock, Wilson and Walker.

Subs: Plant (GK), Dawson, Purcell, Moseley and Thompson

Eagerly awaiting news.

Currently delicately balanced at 1-1

Says 2-2 on the Evo website, att 693 (seems a little low…?)

Yeah it was a bit of a disappointing turn out but a descent game.
We should have gone in at half time with the lead but we were quick out of the blocks after the restart.
Would have been gutted if we’d lost 'coz they didn’t play well but we showed some grit in the end to get the draw.
Just got to do the job at their place now. Easy!!

Sick of going to Gigg Lane. What a horrible place to watch football :frowning:

Im sure its lovely for Bury fans, but we get penned into that one section every time, with microwave pies. .sick

Agreed. I don’t like the place one bit. Parking charges apply and it even costs to get in the .sick social club. Beats me why we don’t do the same to them. We are stuck in one area of the ground. Food and drink is expensive oh and you carnt go into the lounge after the game unless you have a pass. There’s usually some meathead on the door. I won’t be going wednesday thats a fact. I enjoyed yesterdays game.Just a pity about conceding another needless freekick which led to their goal. In saying that we should have had the game won by half time! SBL

I’ve said for a long time wine should charge parking and entry to club but got told we are not vics !!! I,m not stupid I know that but we need all the money we can raise rant over

It was an entertaining game. i thought we started slowly but were better than them in the 2nd half. Just a few wrong decisions with the final ball or shot ( yes that’s you AS - he was unmarked to your left in the box…) otherwise we could easily have won. I like the footballing instincts of FCUM and that always gives us a chance, so who knows, we certainly need the money as well as the chance of a decent gate in the next round. i was surprised with 693 ( if that’s what it was). Numbers of home and away fans were certainly down . Some fans don’t bother with cup games, which surprises me.

BTW, was it a penalty? I couldn’t tell from my angle.

Was it a penalty? Yes cos the ref gave it. Should it have been? 50/50… The ref gave it instantly so he seemed sure. SBL

As regards the replay on Wednesday, I won’t be going on principle. The facilities for wheelchairs are not good, having to sit amongst the home supporters because there is no provision for you with your own fans is not my idea of fun. I did it at the Play Off semi Final last season and felt rather uncomfortable so I won’t be repeating it although I will be there in spirit and my thoughts will be with the lads.

Hi Guys, I thought the game yesterday was half decent and one which I thought you shaded it to be honest. Unlucky to have hit the bar and the one on one where the ball got stuck in between our keepers legs, should have buried it. The game should have been wrapped up then.

As for Gigg lane, a lot of FCUM supporters feel the same about playing at Gigg lane, I would advise any visiting fans to get there handy and park up one of the side streets or back alleys opposite the ground, I do this to avoid the £3 parking fee, which I admit is extortionate. As for the club house we only charge £8 for visiting fans as opposed to your £9.50, so a pound to get in the club house evens things out a bit , alternatively there are some pubs near the ground that are friendly .Most notable are the Swan and Cemetery which you will pass on the left hand side asyou come in from the M60, it’s a few hundred meters before you turn right into Gigg lane, or you could go past the turn off for 200 m or so and on to the Staff of life. Both sell real ales and have friendly staff.
The catering inside Gigg lane is terrible and all proceeds go to Bury FC, The stewards are also Bury’s and can be over zealous as although we are a non league club we have to abide by league rules, as it’s a league standard ground.
There is a catering van outside the ground which you will see near the away end that serves good hot food. Hope to see you all there. Anything else you’d like to know then please feel free to drop me a PM. All the best.

I’m really sorry to hear that. Please raise this with our club, I’m sure someone will help. We pride ourselves as a club with our community and charity work and so this issue needs raising.

Thought it was a great advert for cup football yesterday.

We played some good stuff, which was encouraging to see and probably could have scored a couple more. Big, big fan of Dave Walker - works hard and creates opportunities for others. Class act.

RE: “You’re too posh to sing!” Have you walked around Northwich town centre in the afternoon? :woohoo:

Ha Ha, yeah I know I live in Runcorn and have family in Lostock Grahlam, so I know Northwich, it was just a spur of the moment tongue in cheek song, we sing some stupid howlers now and then, it was our take on the Cheshire set!

Agreed, we have to segregate because it’s a league ground, the pies are the same in our end, we are in the MRE behind the goal, we are also penned in, although to be honest, its not as though there isn’t enough room, the ground holds 11,600, plus the “away” end is not even a quarter full ever, so hardly any of us are “Penned” in. I wish you would come in our end and contribute to the atmosphere. Im sure the away fans do sing but we can never hear them at the other end of the ground.

We give it loads when we’re there but we’re usually outnumbered by at least 20/1.
I’m sure it’ll be a lot better when you move in to your new ground. We had some banter with the fc fans yesterday but we can’t do that at bury.

And by not hearing the away fans, I’m not trying to be a smart arse and say Wittons fans are poor, I mean that we sing most of the time and because the away fans are that far away we cant hear them at all. I remember Ilkeston fans coming last year and waving scarves and obviously singing, but we couldnt hear a thing due to the size of the ground. It is too big for us.

Regarding Gigg Lane and issues, it has to be mostly down to the landlords. Apart from a few idiots at the Semi-Final last year I think that FCUM fans are a real credit to their club. If or when they get promoted it will be a sad loss to the league we’re in. Plus i’d still rather go to Bury than many of the ‘stadia’ we are forced to visit.

Here’s to another absorbing contest on Wednesday.

Thanks for your response FCUnitedRoad… It’s not the fault of anyone at FC United but rather the design of the stadium. Initially they were going to put me behind one of the goals near to our own fans but I couldn’t see over the fence and they wouldn’t allow me inside the perimeter fence, obviously for health and safety issues. So, I ended up on the opposite side to my own club’s supporters and it just didn’t feel right.
