Huge sigh! Nantwich best away record in the division, Ilkeston best in current form. Two hard fought games in which we havn’t got beat, took something from and moved up two places in the league which sort of ruins we are not capitalising arguement. Chasing pack can chase and if they catch us well done but a lot of credit deserves to go to the players today who did not capitulate against the man mountain that is Rickets and fought hard to get back into the game, take the lead but a moment of magic on the wing pegged us back. On the whole a good game of football on show today from two good committed sides
Edit: PS, loved that ball from Shaw for the offside goal. Dunno about anyone else but those sorts of things make my day. Carrick-esque B)
I thought we were lucky to get a point, not that Ilkeston were a better side but that they could have been 3 up at half time, we showed great spirit to get back into the game but their equaliser came from Foster closing down a ball and pinning them into the their corner flag which for me was far to easy for them to get out and score, but we did ok and gained a point.
Just a couple of questions (maybe a certain person could answer) was Shaun Tuck not fit? If he is fit why wasn’t he playing? Because Sheehan is definitely not a second striker (as his frustration showed towards the end of the game)
Played 4-5-1
That was not 4 5 1 it was 4 4 1 1 Sheehan definitely play off foster it wasn’t great but we could have won anyway, more concern for me is they’d defence we just don’t look solid and most games we can expect to concede. I wonder if a more experienced organised keeper would help the back 4 coops is agood shot stopper but for sure is not a cool head under pressure.
Good point against a very inform side. They played to there strengths and I thought we struggled to cope first half. Rickets is a real handful think he won every header. Once again a free kick from our left causes pandemonium and leads to yet another goal. I heard tuck wasn’t 100%. Thought we played some good stuff in parts yesterday fozzie seems to be on fire at the moment. Joe shaw has really impressed me good feet and some great passing also impressed with what we’ve seen of Meechan so far.

I enjoyed the game but we did struggle against a side which had a lot of presence (if thats the right word)? We were better than them on the ground but didn’t take advantage of it, instead trying to launch balls in the air which we were never going to win. Their centre forward certainly was a handful but so was ours and I wouldn’t swap. It was good to see lots of away fans twice on the bounce (but I was a little disapointed with the Nantwich gate, I thought that they would have brought more being a local derby and all that). Third in the league now with christmas over, where can this current crop of players take us? SBL
It clearly was 451! What would be the point of having tuck and meechan on the bench and then play Sheehan as the second striker? As for cooper I think that’s a bit harsh on him, apart from a mad 15 minutes on Tuesday he has been consistent, he is constantly talking to his defence so maybe a question needs to be asked on that back four of communication. I am glad that our keeper is a shot stopper though!
Though not said directly do I hear a murmur of discontent with Mr. Pritchard? I do hope not, he has been hugely successful so far and though I don’t agree with his purchase of Mr. Foster I know he made it with the club’s future in mind. As for playing 4-5-1 or whatever it seems to me he is trying to shore up a defence that is conceding too many goals, perhaps a sweeper would help rather than playing 5 in midfield? But who am I or you to criticise Mr. Pritchard on how to run a football team, he knows more about football than all of us put together. I still think he was wrong about signing Mr. Foster but not on footballing grounds.
WHS.
Absolutely no criticism of pritch, 100 percent behind him and his team, this just a forum for football discussions and opinions, it makes all the more interesting for me and still disagree with club shop Sheehan was not in midfield or not in the game I watched or all my mates who are also uncomfortable with the shaky defence.
Where did any of the comments criticise Pritch? Just commenting on a game that we all ATTENDED! Steve Foster scored and named man of the match, must agree Sheehan struggled yesterday didn’t have the legs to get box to box.
Aww he’s only little though… Bless.
Excuse me C J and JonnyAmery but if you are not happy with the side picked or the formation used who are you blaming? Me? The manager picks the team and if you question that selection you are having a go at the manager, “Simples”.
WHS
‘Murmurings of discontent’ would suggest that the supporters are not happy with the manager, which is complete drivel. People are allowed to disagree with one particular decision, but to classify that as ‘murmurings of discontent’ is way off the mark.
So you don’t like Steve Foster, you’ve not mentioned it…
Just a Forum guys. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but please keep it civil!
Fozzie named man of the match for the 2nd game running, he inspires all those around him, he chases balls most players would give up on and hes scoring important goals for Witton Albion
He kissed the badge after his goal yesterday and seems to love playing for OUR club so WHS your missing out on some great games during a very promising season because Fozzie did something years ago against us…
This is because he wants to win, he is a winner and his desire is rubbing off on the rest of the side.
I for one am glad he plays for us and not against us! UTA
It is a forum Ed but its becoming more like the Northwich one every day -with respect Alan (WHS) your posts and remarks are extremely devisive and I presume that you enjoy EVERYONE knowing your viewpoint, even if it is ill informed and extremely subjective on this occasion.
We’re 3rd in the bloody league and that can only be positive and beyond our wildest expectations, so the forum and points re tactics aren’t negative just opinions on trying to improve still further because we care and haven’t seen anything in this league to frighten us!
Jesus christ, I’d hate to read this board if we were in the relegation fight.
So we played a bit defensivly yesterday against a team who just throw ball after ball into the box and score a lot of goals through the intense pressure they put on teams (watch the youtube videos of their games).
Nothing wrong with healthy debate. Not sure how Forum comments can be construed as “extremely devisive” - surely it’s just a difference of opinion? What is upsetting is when abuse is used against someone whose opinion does not agree with your own.
Enough said, Onwards and Upwards. UTA
Well my last post was deleted so for me this topic is over
