Albion v Marine (FA Cup)

Half time Albion 1-0 up. Newman 9 mins. Att 246

2-0 up - 71mins Hancock

Full Time 2-0

Well done today Witton, excellent team performance from start to finish, 2-0 flattered Marine, but never mind, number of goals doesn’t matter in a cup-tie, save a few for the next round eh?

Can’t believe there is so little reaction to the game unless - is everyone still in the pub celebrating?

A thoroughly entertaining first half which was quite even but ended with us a goal to the good. Marine started brightly first 5-10 mins second half after which it was all albion. Great win, fantastic team performance, could /should have been more than 2 but hey we’re in the next round!

MOM? - well you could make a case for anyone really so pick a number. For me both goalies were outstanding ours for a couple of key saves and their’s for keeping the score to 2.

Great result. Really proud of our team. Makes the bad days all go away

Well done all (especially getting through that rain storm in 2nd half!)

Absolutely fantastic team performance but special mention must go to Sheehan and Ollie James, they were absolutely outstanding. We’re on the march with Pritch’s army!

Who do we want in the next round?

My choice would either be:

a) QUORN at home. Quorn are bottom of the NPL Div 1 South, having
Played 8
Won 0
Drawn 3
Lost 5

OR

b) Away to winners of FC UNITED v Woodley Sports, and pray to god its FC United (for the gate money)

Who do you fancy?

On this performance we should be afraid of no one, United FC away would be great for the gate but I also think we could beat them, double joy!! I walked most of the way to the ground and I walked home to Rudheath. (The wife had the car) The walk home was easy, I was floating on air!!
WHS.

Alty home draw would be great.

When is the draw made?
WHS.

Monday i believe. The draw - Frickley away knowing our luck !
Back to yesterday Excellent performance by all a pleasure to watch. Well done.

Top result yesterday and an enjoyable game to watch. It was good to see that we played the ball on the floor more. MOM for me was Ollie James in midfield although everyone played well. I also thought that Mark Buchan was very effective when he came on half way through the second half. He gave Marine’s defence something different to think about. There were a few Nantwich Town fans at the game. Apparently they heard their game against Ramsbottom was off when they were half way up the M6 (Waterlogged pitch apparently). At least they watched a good game! SBL

The only disappointing thing about yesterday was the gate perhaps last weeks performance had put people off!! I agree with all the comments about the team but I think a mention for our 2 centre backs as well as their 2 front men were a handful and they kept them very quiet.

Terrific result really pleased but fed up that I missed it - fancy having weddings in football season ? still getting the scores on text to me during the wedding was a boost ha ha, must try and orgasnise ana way trip for next week to make up for it !

Great performance, surely the best of the season so far? I would say it’s probably our best result since the Vince era.

Let’s hope for a kind draw. A nice little cup run would build on the buzz being created this season.

Well done Pritch and the boys!

Great result and by all accounts a fantastic performance. Well done to all.

Re the next round-forget a quick pay day we need a cup run to get people interested and talking about our club again.

Agree Andy, I thought we had a bit of impetus but then 2 bad defeats and it all fell a bit flat and it doesnt take much to put fans off it seem, so a good cup run will help the bank balance and lift everyone, we need a good team out on wednesday, a good win and keep the run going dont mess about with second string players please !

Just a terrific performance from the whole team, the work rate was great and we payed some good stuff too. Our keeper made three very good saves and we really made Marine look quite ordinary (and they are certainly no mugs!). That rain in the second half made even me seek shelter, it absolutely battered it down. It was a bit ridiculous for the floodlights to be turned on, was it the ref who suggested it??

Anyway well done to every single player and the dream team management, a great cup win (AT LAST)!!!

Really pleased with the performance, played even better than midweek when trust me the team did not deserve to lose 3-1. when we play to our strenths we are a match for most teams. The only concern for me and takling to the Chairman after the game is the attendance, a lot of work is being done and for less than 200 home supporters to attend then I’m sorry serious questions need to be asked if its worth the effort. If you call yourself a fan and your not attending games then your not a supporter your the reason this club is just surviving and not prospering. everyone has reasons for missing games but to lose well over 100 fans in 3 weeks is just suicidal. I agree with Chad that a decent cup run run hopefully will result in creating a bit of interest otherwise I honestly can’t see the point of the board having sleepless nights (direct quote)!!

Had a few shandys before I wrote that, surprised it made any sense at all! anyway I just wanted to refer back to the first post re not many comments on here, I think the excellent ‘FACEBOOK’ page that was set up at the start of the season may be responsible for that, lots of comments on there and some great interaction too. look up witton Albion Fc (note the small c)
