Rushden got AFC Wimbledon away in the 3rd round, now that would’ve been a good tie for us!
I agree with what most people have said so far. My view on the game was that they had a strong central defence and an excellent goalkeeper. I thought our lads did really well. The only critisism I have really is why oh why did we not get it into the box more especially hard and low type crosses. I think this has been a feature of recent matches where we must not dilly dally around the area. Lets get the ball into the box and also shoot a bit more.As I say though only a small critisism. My son put it into perspective when he said their Centre Half is probably on more than are whole team. There was no diffrence in class and we definately belong on the Confrence North so C’mon lads back to the league on Saturday and we owe Lincoln one3 points for us please.
It has been something i have said before, but for a team that likes to play with width, 99% of the time playing with 2 out and out wingers, we don’t seem to get that many crosses into the box.
But anyway, let’s focus on saturday now. At least all of our efforts can be put towards the league now, and getting 3 points for each game we have in hand on the teams above us.
AS everyone has said, it was sad to go out the way we did but the people around me, and many were not regulars, were impressed by the way the team tried to play ,so hopefully they will be back. A much better performance in front of a big gate than on Boxing Day. I know we will miss the money but for me a win on Saturday is more important to the club’s long term future than this game was. As for the comments on free kicks and corners, I could not agree more, if we commit players forward we should at least try not to leave them stranded by "Fleffing about" with some overworked set piece, get it into the box and let them worry about how to clear it. One final moan, Chris Caghan on a lot of ocassions loses the ball when our full back has committed himself into a forward movement leaving us exposed down that flank, it happened again on Saturday. Chris, if you are going to try some fancy stuff do it when our full back is not over committed.

Sorry guys, but I think picking out individual players after such an excellent all round team performance is unjust and unfair. Its easy to pick individual mistakes, but the players gave their all on Saturday and no-one deliberately gives the ball away. Take it on the chin, leave the tactics to Jim and Benny and lets get behind the lads for Saturday against Lincoln!
No one is suggesting that any player gives the ball away intentionally but when a defender commits himself to a forward position it is doubly important that the ball is not given away as it leaves the team exposed at the back, I think the Manager would agree with that, don’t you? As for the comments made, if we can praise people on the site then surely there is nothing wrong with CONSTRUCTIVE critiscm? No one said any player was rubbish or anything pointless like that and no one said anyone deliberately gave the ball away/.
