Albion v Spennymoor (FA Cup)

THey say that winning when not at your best is the sign of a great team and we have a great team on and off the pitch. Roll on the 3rd Round Proper and the “Theatre of Dreams”!!!

WHS.

No shadow casting - just the truth ! The official website report is very similar to mine and as Robbo keeps banging on about why some supporters are missing then the price of admission is one of them ! There are many more if you would like me to post them ?
The manager must be wondering why less than 350 Wittoners turned up for the gamae ?

Why so negative Eli, when things are going so well? Look at attendances all round the country at almost every level, and you’ll see numbers are down.

From my personal point of view, personal circumstances and the cost of petrol are factors in not attending as many games as I’d like. I’m sure there are many “locals” who are similarly affected by the economic downturn.

You said “The manager must be wondering why less than 350 Wittoners turned up for the gamae ?” - is that one of your truths or just speculation? I’m sure Pritch and the management team would like more through the gate, like we all would, but perhaps they’re in tune with the economy?

Suggest you stay positive - Up the Albion!

Eddie i would urge you not to respond to him. All he is after is a reaction.

Of all the current “stay aways”, i think he is the one that isn’t missed.

Slighty off-topic, but to illustrate Eddie’s point…

 great result yesterday against a very good team who knocked the ball around well and looked pretty dangerous when they attacked. Could have been more goals scored by both sides (definate penalty on Matty Woods and Josh blasting over with the goal wide open )Great to see the celibration after the 3rd goal with all the outfield players joining in , just shows the team spirit in the side. For me Ben Harrison mom but all played their part , for a young lad he plays in such a mature way any doesn`t seem to get flustered . Well done to all at witton .

Sorry for not responding before now Eddie but I have been typing up Wed Prediction sheet for Jim - we all have to do our little bit u know !

You said “The manager must be wondering why less than 350 Wittoners turned up for the gamae ?” - is that one of your truths or just speculation? You will have to ask the manager that, I am sure he will tell you the truth !

No negativety on my part - we have the right chairman, a good team, the right manager and assistant and a qualified EUFA coach.

" But at the end of the day " we can’t attract more supporters !

The issue of cost of admission and the segregation came up in conversation with a Spennymoor fan and are just my opinion.

Drop the price to a fiver and we would get more through the gate but we would lose on the deal, any less would make little diifference on the gate in my opiion. So the answer is, keep the prices the same, but keep winning, that’s what will bring the “Missing” back.

I think what was a fantastic game has been a little highjacked here - a new thread probably is needed to talk about the attendances - can’t bloody wait for the draw tommorrow!!! come on your reds!!

The views of the Spennymoor manager.

[i]Take nothing away from Witton who were a good team and in the end deserved to go through to the next round but goals change games and unfortunately we gifted them the equaliser which totally changed the complex of the game.

After starting the game very well and scoring a great goal from Jamie we were in the ascendancy and looked very good, but the goal they scored which came out of nothing gave them a massive lift and the second goal just after was reminiscent of Poole where it could of gone anywhere but took a massive deflection to end up in the back of our net. To go in 2-1 down after being the better team was hard to take and was a real blow.

Second half I don’t think we did enough which was disappointing and Witton’s forwards caused us plenty of problems, although if Bobby’s header had gone in instead of hitting the bar it could have been a different story. Witton in my opinion were the best team we have played this season and good luck to them in the next round but we have to learn from the game and take it into our next game against Benfield.

In cup games you only get one shot and need every player to play to their potential but on the day I don’t think we had that but that happens and we move on. I would like to praise the tremendous support we had there and it was really appreciated by us all and we just wish it had been a better journey home for you all.
