Three points to the Albs :clap
Won 2 - 1.
Barwell got a point in a no score daw at Rushall. That leaves us 4 points behind them with 3 games in hand and a superior goal difference. Big game when we travel there!
It is Frickley we should concentrate on, they look unlikely to gain many more points on the run in. I thought at times tonight we looked a good team again, it wasn’t perfect but it was a lot better than many performances this season, well done lads I can imagine how nervous you must be at a time like this, it is bad enough on the terraces when the officials are to say the least simply dreadful.
WHS.
Played well, eventually. Needed a goal to get going and then passed it well and had some good chances. the 2 up front were excellent. Well done lads.
Officials were a joke, the players had no idea what was going on, just like the officials. :red
Thank you to all the players for 100% effort tonight, what a difference, and a pat on the back for the management for kicking them up their arses and making changes to the team.
Much better performance just wish we could kill off teams when were in control as my heart can’t take these dramatic finishes!!
Does anyone know why were playing in last season’s home kit? Is it superstition by any chance?
Witton team:
Matt Cooper, Anthony Gardner, Alistair Brown, Ben Harrison, Rob Bodie, Cliff Moyo, Josh Hancock, Michael Powell, Scott Bakkor, Alex Titchiner, Danny Andrews.
Subs: Anthony Sheehan, Martyn Jackson, Jon Dawson, Jonathan Breeze, Michael Moseley.
Scorers: Scott Bakkor 45 mins, Josh Hancock 47 mins.
Attendance: 244.
Credit where it is due - there was lots of hardwork and passion tonight. Better in midfield tonight - at least it felt as though we had one.
MOM Danny Andrews - never stopped working - he has been a star in a very cloudy season.
GE
Danny is my choice for player of the season at this stage, he’s been excellent. I thought Cliff Moyo was very impressive tonight considering he hasn’t played for a while, the front two also were excellent never stopped running and working for the team.
Years ago when I first went to see “Doc” about a cough he asked me who I supported, I of course said Witton. He then prescribed Blood Pressure Tablets. I said “I don’t need these, I have a cough” He said “The cough will go away on its own but if you support Witton you will need the tablets!!!”

This. Well done Pritch and the lads. :clap
Agree with the comments re Danny Andrews, he was excellent again last night. Combines his outstanding technical ability with a good work-rate too.
To his credit, he has also cut out the silly bookinge he used to have a habit of collecting!
I thought Bakkor did really well last night. His contribution wasn’t necessarily an obvious one, but he ran those centrehalves absolutely everywhere.
Much improved from Saturday all round. Well done boys.
A win is a win is a win, and that’s all that matters at this stage of the season.
Agreed can’t fault the effort levels, well done to the players and management for their bouncebackability after Saturdays debacle. :clap
I have to say there was very little composure from either team last night which made for a pulsating game, not to mention a pulsing heart
Despite the 3 points there are some real issues within the squad/team for me I am not sure that Gards in centre midfield worked and I thought Moyo was quite literally a duck out of water, one of 3 right backs in the starting XI!!!
We were again 2 nil up and cruising, albeit both goals were deflections from shots, but isn’t it about time we got a bit of luck?
We could of/should of scored more, at that stage we had at least 3 gilt edged chances to finish Stamford off, and then the 65 minute panic button got pressed, I am surprised we didn’t make a change - surely Sheens for the last 15/20 was needed when we were blowing out of our backsides and dropping ever deeper.
Still positives a few points closer to our rivals, crowd was vocal and got behind the team at a home game - roll on Saturday and another 3 points.
According to Pritch, it’s due to the players complaining that this seasons shirts are too big…
Personally, I thought we played very well last night.
I don’t remember Coops making a save, and I thought our defence was immense blocking shots, making tackles and getting headers away to protect him. I have had my doubts about Moyo in past games, but I thought he had a real good game last night, and at times, especially in the first half, he linked up well with Josh.
I was handing out wages in the Social Club after the game, and it was obvious from the players body language, that they had all given 110%, which is all we can ask for.
I drove home feeling proud of my team.
My son Andrew was at the match, all the way from Wigan, thanks to Pritch and the team he had a happy ride home. We can escape, we will escape, in fact we will finish above Barwell, Buxton Grantham and Frickley with that kind of performance until the end of the season. :clap :goal

Buxton, Marine and Nantwich all getting dragged into it.
Frickley 5th in the form table, ourselves and Barwell quite close together in the bottom 3rd.
we all must have slept a bit better last night :clap
a gutsty 110% performance last night was rewarded with a well deserved win, with a bit of luck and better finishing we would have won comfortably. agree with the comments about danny andrews, witton’s player of the season so far, and scot bakkor’s performance. he really does put in a shift. why do we seem to get the crap referees, i thought last nights ref was apalling, cannot understand why he booked powell. is there any way this can be rescinded, cos all he did was throw the ball to another player to take a throw in. one of the worst decisions i’ve ever seen. however all you witton fans get down for saturdays latest episode of the great escape.
I am not one to moan too much about officials, they have a difficult job, but the referee and one of the linesmen were just dreadful, inconsistent and invariably wrong. They need to be given refresher courses by the FA.
