Have to agree that i thought Woodley were poor considering their league position. However, the game was won so early that i think we killed them off without ever having to get out of 3rd gear.
Good to see the goals being shared around.
Brilliant effort by everybody involved in Project 500. OK, we didn’t hit the number we were hoping for, but i think we all knew it was extremely ambitious. 400 is a great figure, and so many other clubs at this level would be overjoyed at getting even half of that.
Like everybody else i get frustrated at times when we drop what i feel are stupid points, but then there are other times when i am so proud to be a Wittoner.
For me it’s the little things that make this such a great place to be on a Saturday. Mark Buchan’s family were in the shop today, they travelled all this way to support Mark and also Witton. Mark’s dad has been hunting out a programme where Mark was the featured player, today i managed to give him about half a dozen copies of it!
We had a junior team on the pitch at half time today, which is always great to see. But the bit that goes unnoticed is the 10 minutes of his busy day that Pritch gives up to have a chat with the lads, show them the dressing room, and pose for a photo. I have to say that he is always brilliant when it comes to this.
By the time i got out of the shop tonight the stadium was largely empty, apart from Mike Moseley and his little lad having a kick about on the pitch. It felt a world away from seeing Mike break his leg in the same goal mouth.
And then after the game i was speaking to programme editor Jamie in the bar. Jay is a Darlingon fan who just happened to edit our programme as a favour to Pritch. He told me today though how much our little club has gotten under his skin. How he loves being here, and what a great bunch of supporters he thinks we have.
The league title may be all but out of reach now for us, but as somebody pointed out to me today “if you had fun, you won”.
Compared to other clubs, i think we’re definately winning.
