Albion Vs Bloods

Despite going down 2-0 the Albion can take a lot of positives from this game.

Our first half performance was lively (very much like the Bridge game) and we were unlucky not to take the lead when Smith (?) slid the ball narrowly wide of the post. We didn’t look like a team 2 leagues lower than our visitors who fielded a strong line up that had ex-Albion players Alex Brown (scorer of the 2nd goal), Rob Lloyd and Liam Brownhill in their ranks. 0-0 at half time was a fair reflection in my view.

Second half the Bloods did have the upper hand, but there were still periods of promising play from the Albion.

There does seem to be some genuine optimism around the club just now. Hopefully we can build on this as the season gets underway.

I think it is also worth noting that because of minor niggles Paul left Kearney, Parkinson,Kinsey and Frost out of the squad yesterday and young Ben was taken off as a precaution meaning a little bit of a makeshift defence at the end when the Bloods got their second.

For me you have to compare our first game v Eastwood against yesterday (both teams expecting to make the play offs in the blue sq north) to see how far we have come in a very short time, - Paul is building a team that hopefully we can ALL get behind and be proud of.

Yes I agree Picko and I’m enthused by what I’ve seen of our new team so far. Good team spirit, hard work, there seems to be discpline on the field, and some skill too. If I’ve got a niggle its perhaps that we don’t score enough goals but hey we’ve not really played anyone at our level yet and it does take time for players to get to know one another. I’m particularly pleased are new “old boys” have done pretty well too. All this reflects the experience of Oggie and Co. I see Oggie and Murph in animated conversations after every game which hopefully means they are discussing the team performance. I think its great and all these things together were things we did not see last season.
I’m optimistic, with the realisation that there are several teams in our league who can just throw money at things e.g AFC Fylde, Chester, Chorley are 3 notable teams who may have clout to be up there but I’m sure with these lads we have we’ll be in the mix trying our best.Onward and Upward looking forward to Stockport tomorrow and seeing the new lights. Good things happening in the Social club too well done to all volunteers!
Our great little club seems to be moving forward slowly again and its marvellous to see!
