Are 1874 in freefall ?

Lost at home again today, no ground, out of the cups, losing fans by the busload, does not look good does it !!! could we maybe see a merger with the other green and white lot ?

UTA ( Definitely not in freefall )

Merger would be sensible but imperative we do not allow any version of them lot to play at our ground next season.

Agreed Alan

but still only 56 spectators less than you and we dont count season ticket holders who are not in attendance.

Still in an FA competition though

That is the 2nd time this season we have beaten higher league opposition. This team is magnificent and that lot who are on the slide come nowhere near. People won’t watch crap Simple as

Sorry who are 1874? Do you mean vics? I’m confused…

They were blaming the Winsford pitch for today,s hammering as it didn,t flood, causing the game to go ahead. :silly:

Oh I don’t know mate we were doing it not so long ago

Oh I don’t know mate we were doing it not so long ago [/quote]

At least we didn’t have to travel to a different town and watch it in someone else’s stadium though! Lol

Have to laugh at them in Winsford, our friend reckons they have money in the bank - more than Witton lol, I wonder if they can answer me this little question :

My mate lives in squalid little bedsit in Winsford its gone to the dogs really, He does not like it that much its soulless and has no atmosphere and needs a lot of money spending on it but its all he can afford, however quite surprisingly he has (lets be generous) ÂŁ20k in the bank Think he is saving up a bedsit in Northwich !! Now the thing is my other mate lives in a Big mortgage free detached place in Wincham worth ( lets be conservative ) ÂŁ3 million pound - with big grounds that a few people would like to buy now to develop! He doesnt have too much in the bank because running that big house costs quite a bit- but if you live in his bigger league ! you have to spend the big money obviously -He wants move into the bigger league. He is also due to inherit a fair chunk soon from an old land investment deal he did a few years ago now the BIG QUESTION for you all (who read this forum ) who is the richest and which would you seriously like to be !!!

Answers in Red ink on white paper to The tenants at Barton Stadium CW7 3AE

A merger between the two Vics would be sensible but I think they hate each other more than they hate Witton!!
Unless we renew the lease Vics are dead in the water and 1874 can never grow playing at Winsford so all we have to do is keep them at a distance and we have nothing to worry about as far as the greens are concerned.

V**s without a backer cannot afford to stay at the Net-Dec even if we were to allow them, realistically there only option will be to take voluntary demotion and play at a level they can afford and rent somewhere like Barnton for example. 2012 Winsford will probably stay at Barton stadium for the medium term 5 years or so maybe longer while they try to get back in the town with a low level facility, I agree we should now not let them near our stadium.

Firstly, I think we should stay out of the 1874/Vics squabbles and just deal with the issues as they arise. There is a possibility that our tenants could (it may be a slim chance, but there is one none the less) receive backing that would enable them to stay at WP. If that happens in a Rushe free environment would we turn them down? If they don’t get that backing, then as CJ says, its more likely that they will take a demotion and opt to reduce their costs elsewhere in order to keep the club afloat.

Secondly, If either of those 2 options is realised, then the banners, colours, standards and history of the old Vics will stay with NVFC as its direct line of decent. The interesting question is then what that means for 1874. I think the expectation has always been that NVFC would cease to exist. If it survived, would many of the Vics fans who watch neither of the current incarnations return to watch the NVFC team? Where does that leave 1874? A new club owned by its fans with no direct links to Northwich asking Northwich Town Council to provide a home? Would the Council do the same for any other team such as the old Broken Cross that didn’t have its own stadium?

I can understand why 1874 was formed and sympathised with their dilemma at the time, but with hindsight they may have hit the escape button a tad too soon. The obvious solution is a reconciliation, but after a bitter and long divorce the ill feeling between both clubs may render this impossible. The consequences could be years of falling out and back biting. Something we are best clear of. After years of being in the doldrums, there is definitely a feeling of better times ahead at WP. We need to focus on what we need to do to for ourselves, to continue to be the best for our club and enjoy what we have now. Otherwise it may just pass us by.

I agree with the sentiments Knutsfordian but what happens to these two clubs can have a direct bearing on us, if they go we lose income, if they stay 1874 may join them and make them a real threat to our standing but if we keep them out of Northwich they can never thrive. But I do agree, we have a great team at the moment so it is “ONWARD AND UPWARDS” for us

Good God I thought we could moan about our team, They seem to think they have a divine right to win every game, Should be fun to read if they lose 2 on the bounce.

Gents.

You are right that a number of fans are complaining about a loss but I suspect that they amount to less than 10.
I suspect that vast majority of the Clubs owners are right behind our Manager and his team irrespective of these local difficulties.
If the Clubs owners dont like the way things are going they can speak directly to the Chairman who mans the gate at every game and if they dont like the Board they can elect them out at the AGM next month.
Personally I am quite happy with the way things are going.

I’ve just been having a chat with an 1874 fan and he reckons that the majority of the fans are calling for the manager to be sacked!
Doesn’t take long does it!?

MM if you only have 10 unhappy fans- why are your gates down so much - way more than 10 more like 60-80 I reckon ! they may not be moaning but voting with their feet and absence.

Dunno, but they have every opportunity to speak to the Chairman and Board Members at every game or at the AGM which is next week.

I suspect that once the original novelty has worn off it was inevitable that attendances would decrease but it is a long term project and we shall see.

I am confident of the long-term, solvent and sustainable future for MY club unbeholden to rich “businessmen” and their ethics.
