soccer school seems to be well attended, well done gary.

I thought I would reproduce this from an e mail Gaynor, the secretary of Witton youth teams sent me, it was a message posted on the Witton Youth forum. I believe it goes to show how we are still suffering a little from our past and how things are much improved with the current management.

The Soccer School took place this week and seemed much better organised that it has in the past.

Jack attended all 3 days because he enjoyed it so much.

The players met in the Home Team dressing room and whilst training was on the back training field the boys played two games per day on the actual Witton pitch. A thrill for any kid.

The Boardroom was the used at Lunchtime and it was clear that the organisation and the hosting of the event was much improved, on what has gone before. (I have often been critical of the Senior Club in the past and therefore it is pleaseing to report on how well this has been organised and how much Jack and the other boys have enjoyed learning more skills.

It is a pity that the School wasn’t better supported by the Junior Club by way of more attendees. However, this may reflect on what’s gone before. I can honestly say this was a very well organised, structured, fun event and hopefully this positive feedback will encourage others to give it a try should/when the Soccer School run another session.

My thanks to Gary for looking after Jack and his mates so well. Thanks also to the Club for full access to the facilities - it does make a difference to the kids.

Yes, Joe and Will were at first reluctant to go, having been before and felt that the day dragged and wasn’t much fun.

Even though they’d obviously been worked VERY hard, this time they both really enjoyed it and said they’d love to go again.Roz

High praise indeed, however, there is also the need for a similiar Saturday morning soccer school that isnt ‘junior club’ based, having been part of a junior set up and seeing what goes on at under 11’s level it is appauling that example children are left at home or not playing because they are not good enough or simply dont fit in.
It is for those reasons I moved to the egg shaped ball which is littered with football rejected children who just want to play sport.

My idea put on a ‘FUN’ soccer school at the rear of the ground on a Saturday morning, open age groups to begin with, pay on the day £3 per session, (pay the coaches with the rest going to the club) should the need arise open the tea bar and toilets, plug the home matches etc etc.

BUT most of all

LET THE KIDS PLAY FOOTBALL, WITHOUT RESULTS, WITHOUT PRESSURE, FOOTBALL FOR ALL
