Witton Youth recorded a hard fought away win last Sunday against Ashton Athletic Youth. After a 0-0 first half with Witton outplayed and outbattled through the midfield we were lucky to go in with the scores tied althought chances for both teams were minimal.
Witton came out fighting in the 2nd half and started to dominate the opposition after some changes in personnel and positional adjustments.
It was young Anthony Barnes (brother of Sam), who opened the scoring with a far post header from a corner, his 1st goal for the Youth Team. Promising Attacking Midfielder Bradley Taberner added the 2nd with a sweet 15 yards volley and the scoring was completed by Joe Coffey curling the ball from just inside the Left corner flag after forcing the GK into an error after rushing out of his area.
A great win and Youth Team sit just below mid table after recording back to back wins 1 point behind Ashton.
