Weather permitting, Witton are on the road again on Tuesday night when they travel to Ashton United in a “six pointer” Northern Premier League Premier Division fixture.
Saturday’s results have given added emphasis on the game as a small gap has now opened amongst the teams near the bottom of the table with rivals picking up points but Witton can only control what they do.
Defeat at FC United in difficult conditions was a disappointment but the team have to put that behind them and focus on the challenges ahead starting with the game facing them.
Ashton picked up a point against Bamber Bridge to lift themselves up the table and will be looking to build on that where Albion will be hoping to get that much-needed three points and complete the league double over their opponents.
Their home form hasn’t been too bad with three defeats so far, losing to Whitby Town, Warrington Town & Morpeth Town respectively but only two since August.
Callum Saunders solitary goal decided the reverse fixture at the U Lock It Stadium earlier in the campaign and a similar result would be most welcome from a Witton perspective.
Another tough game is in prospect and a positive result for the Albion is now becoming more important in the situation they find themselves in.
Kick off at Hurst Cross is 7.45pm.
