Witton make their second visit of the season to Atherton Collieries on Saturday afternoon in a Northern Premier League Premier Division fixture.
Last weekend’s scheduled trip to Buxton fell victim to the wintry weather conditions so they’ve had a fortnight without any football which can have detrimental effects as there is no substitute for games.
Witton’s last outing against Bamber Bridge saw striker Callum Saunders break the club’s goalscoring record for finding the net in successive league games and he’ll no doubt be looking for more in the coming weeks.
Atherton Collieries currently sit halfway in the table and have lost three home league games out of the nine they’ve played so far, winning five and drawing the other.
They also ended Witton’s involvement in this season’s Emirates FA Challenge Cup earlier in the season so Albion will be looking to gain some revenge for that disappointment.
Witton’s away form has been better than at home winning two, drawing four and losing three going into the weekend and they’ll be looking to improve on that, as they try to climb the table and the game gives them the opportunity to complete the league double over their opponents.
George Nugent has moved on to Prescot Cables in order to get more playing time and we will hopefully see him back at the U Lock It Stadium in the future but that aside, Albion appear to have most of their squad fit and ready.
Atherton will make things difficult for Witton but if we play to our best we can hopefully come away with the points.
Kick off at Skuna Stadium is 3pm.
