Atherton Collieries vs Witton Albion.

Witton are on their travels for the next two games, starting with a trip to Atherton Collieries on Tuesday night in a Northern Premier League Premier Division fixture.

The game at the Skuna Stadium is a re arranged fixture, after the scheduled meeting was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. It is also Witton’s second visit of the season, following our exit from the Emirates FA Challenge Cup earlier in the season.

Atherton Collieries are currently mid table in the division, but have recently hit a poor run of form having lost their previous three home games the last being against Stalybridge Celtic at the weekend, where a first half Pena decided the outcome.

The game gives Witton a chance to complete the league double over their opponents, following a 2-0 success at the U Lock It Stadium back in October, courtesy of goals from James Foley and leading scorer Callum Saunders and how we could do with repeating that.

Performances haven’t been as bad as results have indicated in recent weeks but with games running out, it’s vital that Albion can string a few wins together and haul themselves to safety.

Having to change the team for one reason or another doesn’t help although, the players coming in are trying their best and are still getting used to things at the club. Not an ideal situation but thats the position we’re in and we have to battle through it as best we can.

Atherton Collieries will undoubtedly pose us problems but we can only deal with what is in front of us and hopefully, impose ourselves on the game and come away with a much-needed result.

Kick off at Skuna Stadium is 7.45pm.
