Witton tread new ground on Saturday afternoon when they make their first-ever visit to Avro FC in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture.

The Oldham-based club have acquitted themselves well at this level since their promotion from the North West Counties League Premier Division at the end of last season.

The management team of Alex Frost and Phil Edghill both of whom have experienced football at the current level in which Avro are playing, have assembled a squad of experienced players who have also competed at the same level and above in some cases.

The return meeting at the U Lock It Stadium earlier in the campaign saw the two sides play out an entertaining 2-2 draw.

Goals from Oli Roberts and Oliver Hitchcox appeared to have given Witton the points after Liam Ellis early opener for the visitors, but Muis Bibire Bello secured a point for the newcomers in the last few minutes.

Witton will be looking to continue their recent form which saw them collect maximum points over the festive period against 1874 Northwich and Runcorn Linnets respectively.

Avro have only experienced defeat on three occasions this season, two in front of their own fans but they have had six draws at the Vestacare Stadium a run that has seen them climb to fourth in the table.

Witton face a difficult test against a team in good form but their own performances in recent weeks will hopefully stand them in good stead for the challenge in front of them.

Three wins on the run, despite a power cut in the second half sees Witton climb to ninth in the table. The next game is at home to City of Liverpool FC on TUESDAY, 9th JANUARY with a 7.45pm kick off.

Well done again lads. Over the past 6 games only Leek, with a 100% record, have secured more points than the Albion.
Given the number of goals we’ve shipped it seems crazy that we’re only three points off a play-off position, but with almost half the season to go the play-offs are a realistic possibility. Our goal difference will be a big hindrance though as the points situation is so tight.

Well done to everyone, brilliant.

Totally agree Mike, and the difference is we’ve stopped conceding goals only 4 in the last 5 games.

Brilliant performance from every player today against a big team, our midfield worked there socks off and Ollie Martin on goal was outstanding.

We are looking confident now as a team and only a few points of a play off position.

Well done boys keep it up :+1:

Another big win similar to Runcorn win in may respects, we played all the football they were more physical and direct.

Our midfield 3 were superb and Brazel’s skill and goal prowess came to the fore for the goal for us to defend and we did that brilliantly albeit with the aid of Ollie Martin in goal in unbeatable form and deservedly our mom.

Worrying to see Ben limp off again, we do need him. Going forward we do need to add more goals from our front 3 but for now we take the clean sheet again and the 3 points and go again.

Well done lads.

Albion fans get down and support the team it’s a good watch. UTA
