Avro FC v. Witton Albion

Witton travel to Avro FC on the artificial pitch on Saturday afternoon in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture.

Two home defeats in the last week have halted Albion’s progress and they need to start picking up results, if they are not to be dragged into the lower reaches of the table.

Avro go into the game in nineteenth place in the league and have won three, drawn two and lost two at home so far but have lost five on the road from eight games.

The game is only the third meeting between the two clubs following Avro’s debut season at this level, Witton securing four points from the two games last season.

A 2-2 draw at the U Lock It Stadium with goals from Oliver Hitchcox and Oli Roberts, almost gave Witton the victory but a late equaliser meant the points were shared.

Witton faired better on their visit to Greater Manchester with Harry Brazel’s goal clinching the points for the Albion.

From our last visit, only five players from that matchday squad remain at the club with current manager Ben Harrison being part of the starting line-up on that occasion.

A busy few weeks faces the team with another tough away trip to Hanley Town in midweek, followed by a home game against high-flying Widnes on the horizon.

The focus as always should be on the game facing them and the management team will be making sure that is the case, as they go in search of three crucial points.

Avro have added to their squad in recent weeks and a couple of familiar faces in Oliver Putnam and Jamie Rainford could feature.

Another tough game for the Albion and they will have to perform to their best in order to get the right result.
