my first chance to see the new witton will be at bala town…will there be many from witton making the trip…
I’m hoping to get to see that.
If you have not seen the official website preview, Bala advise not to use the A5104, because of other major events on that route.
I suggest taking the slightly longer route via A494.
Come off the A55 at J33B (Ewloe), and follow signs towards Mold on the A494.
Bypass Mold, staying on the A494 through Loggerheads and Ruthin.
You eventually come to the A5, with Corwen to the left. Turn right onto the A5 for about a mile or so, then left off the A5, back onto the A494 all the way to Bala.
For the more adventurous, you could go via Wrexham and Oswestry down the A5 to Llanymynech. then it is cross country via very narrow lanes to LLanfyllin, LLanfihangel, Llanwddyn, around Lake Vyrnwy, and then drop down to LLangywer, Rhos-y-Gwaliau and finally drop into the back of Bala. Allow an extra hours travelling if you take this route!
Your directions are excellent TT.I have used this route quite a few times in rallies[med cover !!].
The views between Loggerhead and Ruthin are stunning.
The Lakesiders beat Rhyl 3-0 at Maes Tegid in a pre-season friendly last night.
Should be another good test then, didn’t they beat Scum too?

There is an alternative. As you leave Loggerheads, turn right at Tafarn-y-Gelyn along Ithlon View and up the old pass on Bwitch Panbarras, which used to be the route to Ruthin before the A494 was built. It’s not for the faint hearted, and it can be a pain getting out of the car to open and shut gates, although most of these have now been replaced by cattle grids. At the top of the pass you could take a walk to Jubilee Tower (the lump on the top of the mountain you will have seen during the last 10 miles), which is at the summitt of Moel Famoa. There are spectacular views from there of the Cheshire Plain, and on a clear day you can see as far as Liverpool and Widnes.
Just to add something to TT’s match preview, I contacted Bala Town by email with the intention of attending the game on Saturday and they were extremely helpful, I received a response within a couple of hours or so.
There are 6 spaces for wheelchairs inside the stadium - 3 behind one of the goals and 3 on the halfway line all of which are under cover. Access is not a problem and there are toilets available.
Just got back from Llandudno, any news of the score? Great news that Woods has not gone, or has he?

Witton were beaten 1-0 in Bala this afternoon, the goal coming in the 41st minute after the Welsh side had already hit the woodwork. By all accounts Bala were the better side over the 90 minutes.
Oh well beat stoke 7-1 lose to Bala 1-0 who said football was a funny old game, look forward to seeing the team and match report later
In truth, we were second best at Bala. We were beaten by a very good and strong side who, if rumour is correct pay top dollar for their players. They missed a couple of “one on ones” during the second half so the score could have been more. Our forwards didn’t really force their keeper into a proper save all game until the dying moments when Ben went on a solo run and was unlucky not to score (so it could have been 1 - 1 ) and our midfield was over run a little. Lets hope that our players learnt something from the game? MOM.It was between our two centre halfs who both had good games and our keeper, so i’m going for all three!!! SBL
