Witton have a couple of crucial games in front of them over the next few days against teams struggling at the bottom of the table. The first game sees them travel north up the M6 to Bamber Bridge on Saturday afternoon in a Northern Premier League fixture. The Preston-based club currently sit fourth from the bottom of the table and their records are polar opposites to each other. Going into the weekend, Brig’ have only played three league games in front of their own fans of which they have won two and lost the other. Away from The Sir Tom Finney Stadium, they have only managed to collect one point from seven games which has been the main reason for their problems so far this season and they also have the joint worst defence in the league, having conceded twenty goals already. Goalscoring has been a major problem for the Albion so far, not helped by injuries to key players but, the squad has been bolstered this week with two new faces coming in albeit one being a loan signing and hopefully that can give the squad fresh impetus in the coming weeks ahead. Witton’s record at Bamber Bridge is somewhat indifferent over recent years but perhaps, this is the perfect opportunity to climb up the table and put a bit more distance between ourselves and the lower end. Games like this are never straight forward as teams in a similar position to Bamber Bridge, are striving to improve their precarious position and they make things difficult for you as there are no guarantees. Witton will need to be positive and impose themselves on the game and who knows, that bit of luck or piece of skill could turn the game in our favour. Kick off at The Sir Tom Finney Stadium is 3pm.
