Barnton will play in the NWCFL Premier Division next season after beating Bacup Borough 2-0 after extra time in the First Division Play Off Final at Townfield Lane this afternoon. Goals from Jason McShane & Ryan Malone in the final minute saw The Villagers home in front of a crowd of 554.
Congratulations to Barnton and Mr Pritchard. Tough games for 1874 next season too.
Went to watch this and Barnton deserved the win, good gate for the day lots of Wittoners there on a lovely day, game spoiled a bit by a very bumpy pitch but a well contested game with defences mostly on top but on finals day all you have to do is win.
I understand from a very senior source that most of the team, management and financial backers are going to Widnes.
WHS.
Barnton FC have, I believe, offered the Manager & Assistants roles to others for next season.

Mike was a very good manager for me, when he was in charge of my Sunday League team “THATCHED TAVERN” from 2000 to 2005.
I went along too and can’t add to your review, I thought the Bacup number four was very good and Mom for me. It was a tough game played largely in good spirits apart from a Bacup defender giving the liner dogs abuse as he thought the last minute second goal was offside. Pritch had a few “Pritch” monments lol. I was quite surprised when the crowd was announced it didn’t seem that many to me but no reason to exaggerate I suppose.
It’s a shame if they are all off to Widnes and I sincerely hope it isn’t the Widnes team with attempted involvement by Rushe’s mate Vaughan!
PROBABLY.
WHS.
I dont think Pritch would get involved if any of the alleged drug/money launderers were associated, I think that was a brand new club planned for Widnes that fell through.
I agree, knowing Mr. Pritchard he would only ever do the right thing, he is more likely to arrest them than take their money!!
WHS.
Went myself to this match and had a quick 5 minute chat with my hero Sir Brian Pritchard before the game it was great to see him. I think CJ’s summary is the best overview of the match. As far as I’m concerned the Barnton football management team pulled off a masterstoke in putting on the lad with number 16 on his back as he added the pace they needed to win the match which to be honest was quite a dreary affair so the old Pritch magic is still going.
Anyways congrats to Barnton well deserved and hope you do ok in the higher league. Sad though that Brian and Co won’t be continuing with them if the rumours are true.
Witton are lucky to have an octogenarian Senior Citizen who is willing to part with his state pension to pay the rent for his football club otherwise you might end up with another unsavoury character or their associates.
I suspect that he must be getting a Senior Citizens discount on the rent as 1874 Northwich with their turnover decided the rent of Witton was too expensive for them.
Well Done Witton for supporting the Senior Citizens of Northwich!
if the rent was too high how come a deal was done with 1874 to play at wincham, Perhaps your board is telling you what you want to hear and laying the blame elsewhere, and don’t want you to know the real reasons why the deal fell through 24 hours later. nono
There was never any deal done with 1874 as Wittons proposal was rejected immediately on cost grounds.
Anyway you have Mr Nuttall now to finance your plans with his pension.

No it wasn’t. I have heard from several very reliable sources that 1874 could have used the monies offered by a certain local business towards renting Wincham Park, which would have made it easily affordable, but for whatever reason chose to rent a different stadium in another town instead.
I see Mr Lilburne that you care to post on here to stir things up. On your 1874 website you have, in the past, been quite sensible and constructive. It appears, under the MM pseundonym, you lose that sensibility.
Clearly you’re assuming that Derek has decided that he’ll pay Witton - I doubt that you actually know what Derek does with his money.
At the end of the day Witton will invoice Northwich Victoria for the hire of Wincham Park during season 2016/17. And then the invoice will (or will not) be paid.

bit of an unprovoked attack that, is Derek your next target for your avalanche of abuse. I’m pretty sure your club has pensioners and/or people claiming money from the state.
Quite right Colin, but we dont ask them to pay the rent.
The reason 1874 went to Winsford was because Witton were asking more than we could afford with or without financial backers.
