Basford United vs Witton Albion.

Following their fantastic victory at leaders South Shields on Saturday, Witton are on the road again on Monday when they travel to second-placed Basford United in a Northern Premier League fixture.

They left it late in the North East but, it was yet another example of Witton’s character and undying determination to play to the very end and achieve the right result, when the odds were against them. The result has now got them back within touching distance of the play offs and will also build the confidence for the games ahead.

Basford United will undoubtedly provide Albion with another difficult challenge as they chase the leaders and look for any slip ups. Their home form is impressive but following Saturday’s events who’s to say that Witton can’t put a dent in Basford’s progress and edge ever closer to the top five.

A victory, although getting them nearer points-wise, won’t improve Witton’s league position but it does give them a chance of keeping their present run going.

Kick off at Mill Street Playing Field is 7.45pm.
