Basford United vs Witton Albion.

Witton are on the road again on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Nottingham-based Basford United in a Northern Premier League fixture, looking for their first win of the new season.

The disappointing start to the campaign hasn’t been helped with the current injury situation and Carl Macauley & Gary Martindale have been working tirelessly to address the problems in recent days.

Two more additions to the squad in the return of midfielder Cesaire Lingouba and teenage forward Liam Thomas, will give the management team further options but hopefully things will begin to improve injury-wise in the not too distant future.

Witton’s record against Basford is a bit mixed and they will be hoping for a better result than the last time they visited the Nottinghamshire club, as the home side came out on top courtesy of Kane Richards solitary strike.

Basford currently sit one place and one point better off than Witton in the table and like Albion, they are still seeking their first victory of the season although, they have drawn both of their home games to date.

Another difficult challenge faces Witton as no games in this league are easy but, they will be looking to impose themselves on the game and hopefully come away with the right result.

Kick off at Greenwich Avenue is 3pm.

Very hard to suggest a team given how many injuries there are and no updates from the club doesn’t help stir interest. Good luck to whoever plays. UTA
