Things are progressing well thus far - our advert in the out in cheshire magazine is spreading the word.
We should have the band confirmed for the Saturday night within a couple of days and will also have the FA Cup final live on the Saturday afternoon - which will feature atleast 1 local club.

We have 22 sponsors thus far and need another 4 to make it a clear sweep! If you are interested or know anyone who might be for £75 - details above (happy to give 4 tickets for the night of your choice) please let me know.

Hi Neil,

I’m not sure, but hasn’t this years FA Cup Final been moved to an evening KO. I am sure I have read something about it somewhere, or am I just having a nightmare?

As far as I know there has not been any conformation of KO time as yet BUT there is a full premier league programme on the same day, some forums saying that league games are kicking off at 1.30 amd 5.30 around the cup final others saying that the final is at 5.30pm after the league games… either way it shouldn’t alter the plans to have it on in the Club before the band come on to play in the evening.

Article from the mirror last year.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2010/03/12/fans-anger-at-itv-plan-to-change-traditional-fa-cup-final-kick-off-time-to-for-5-30pm-115875-22104767/

The only thing that will give the Cup back its position as the major event of the year is to give the winners a place in the Champions League instead of to the team who finish fourth in the league and have won nothing. It won’t happen because the top clubs want to keep all the money to themselves and won’t risk it going to one of the poorer clubs. They would also feel obliged to turn out their first team in the early rounds instead of the reserves just in case they have a bad season.

Can,t see the Beer Festival either winning the FA Cup or finishing in the top four ? :pinch:

Just commenting on comments made. Beer Festival sounds like it is going to be great but sadly I will be in Mallorca! I will give it a plug in the programme next week, gave it a big write up a few weeks ago but another plug won’t go amiss.
WHS.

Lastest update the ciders are picked - 6 in total.
Includes one called moonshire, another called leg bender and another very new one on the market which will no doubt be worth a try!

Ales due to be selected this week.
Barrel sponsorship very nearly complete too.

We are now looking for people to d leaflet drops in their area into local shops/houses etc (similar to that of the Wittoner) to publicise the event further.

If you can offer assistance please contact me. The flyers themselves will be provided.

Ideally we’d like to get a few thousand out and make this an event to remember to rival other local beer festivals!

Might be able to help out, hopefully I will be at the next home game, God and the wife willing!!
WHS.

Further update:
All beers & ciders now picked and nearly fully sponsored.
We have ales & ciders from as far as sommerset, yorkshire, Wirral etc so if this is your “cup of tea” there should be a good seelection for you.

I will have a list of the beers/ciders at the Durham game as well as tickets if anyone wants to look/purchase tickets.

We are also now getting rid of the flyers so if anyone wants any please let me know.

Likewise we are now firming up the volunteers so if you can help out please let me know which day you would prefer to do. We require people for the door, the bar and on the token booth.

How exotic. Usually you would need to travel for at least half an hour to sample something like that.

And get “done” for drink driving on the way back!! The Festival is within walking distance for most Wittoners who after all have walked to Runcorn for their club. I really wish I could be there, it is going to be brilliant, far better than that “picnic” at the other place!!
WHS.

It is exotic indeed Somerset is a tad further though and doubt alot of the ales on offer will be stocked locally.
There is also the camping opetion at £10 which is probably cheaper than a taxi home if you dont live on Ashwood Park!

Special souvenir glasses now delivered and ready for the event - they look pretty decent if I do say so myself and will look good in anyones work place after the event!

Last call for any helpers - especially Friday and Saturday please if you can spare a few hours to pull a few pints or man a ticket booth etc. (its not all bar work!)

Please contact me directly by the usual methods. 0776 119 2195 if you can help.

Most of the beer is now at a secret location 3 miles away !

Neil,
Just to let you know I’ve just dropped the 500 or so leaflets you gave me through letterboxes on the Pippins and Mulberry estates near Moss Farm!! It was good exercise!! Bumped into Jeff Metcalf so it took 3 hours instead of 2 but always enjoyable talking to Jeff!! Spoke to about a dozen people on this delivery route who said they would give going to it some serious thought. Do hope this is a winner for the club and hope what I’ve done helps out a bit!!

Cheers Mate Onward and Upward!!
