Belper Town vs Witton Albion (FA Challenge Cup Second Qualifying Round)

Witton look to progress through to the Third Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Challenge Cup on Saturday afternoon, as Belper Town stand between them when the two sides meet in the Second Qualifying Round. The Nailers have already negotiated two rounds ahead of Saturday’s game. Like ourselves, they also secured a narrow victory against Alvechurch in the previous round but they had to overcome a replay against Sporting Khalsa in the Preliminary Round. Belper are going well in the league currently sitting seventh in the NPL South East Division and remain unbeaten. The two clubs have never met in an FA Competition although our paths have crossed in league games in recent years. Both teams have had a free week leading upto the game, allowing them extra time to prepare for the weekend. Witton will be looking to hopefully replicate last season’s achievement of reaching the Fourth Qualifying Round but, they have to overcome Belper in what is a difficult challenge and the Emirates FA Challenge Cup has a habit of producing shocks. Whilst not underestimating their opponents, Albion will be hopeful of progressing and not becoming a victim of one of those shocks. Kick off at The Raygar Stadium is 3pm.
