So, what do we think? A REAL Englishman leading the team or will it be a disaster?

My take - we will maybe have a bit more passion in the team and a direction to play-but we still wont be good enough !
It appears we have a limited number of English managers to choose from. Probably the better choice of the two but neither have proved a massive success at club level as regards winning things.
REAL Englishmen Alan? I’m not sure what that means, Keegan, McLaren and Hodgson I think could all be described as thus, along with temp managers Wilkinson, Taylor and Pearce, interestingly of all the managers of this millennia, Eriksen and Capello have the best win ratio.
Poor state of affairs and Redknapp would have still been a better shout than Allardyce who has never managed top level players and has very little European experience. But he seems like a good bloke and I hope that’s enough!
Trouble is, if you take away the managers of the top 6 Prem teams (say…MU, MCFC, Arsenal, Chelsea, Lpool, Spurs and they are all foreigners anyway) - you haven’t got a lot of European football experience to draw on with an English manager.
I meant someone who played the ENGLISH way, get it forward and get after it!! Not pass it sideways for most of the match. Our biggest successes in Europe and Internationals all had a BIG centre forward who put himself about, John O’Hare, Andy Gray, Alan Shearer, John Toshack Teddy Sheringham, the foreigners never knew how to deal with them and I feel still don’t. If we learned nothing last season it was that possesion does not necessarily win you the match!!

Sorry, forgot to mention Geoff Hurst!!
