BOOK ON CHESHIRE SENIOR CUP AVAILABLE

Keith Clayton, whom many of you may know through his various and priceless contributions to the “Albion Review” over many seasons, has now published Volume One on the History of the Cheshire Senior Cup.

The competion captured Keith’s imagination from a fairly early age and although living in Warwickshire for many years he still regularly commutes up to Cheshire.

This very comprehensive 220 page volume contain all the results in the Competition from 1880 to 1915 together with match reports on all finals and semi-finals together with attendances and goal scorers from other rounds. If it was reported in a paper then it is mentioned in the book. The minutes of the Cheshire FA start in 1892/93 season, those prior to this date were destroyed in a fire. The results from the missing seasons have therefore been painstakingly pulled together over the last few years.

All the profits from this book will go to the Cheshire Football Association, once Keith’s overheads have been recouped. The next volume, which Keith is well into researching, will cover the Cup’s history between the World War Years, from 1918 to 1939.
