It is with great sadness that I have to advise you of the passing of Brian Booth, suddenly yesterday.
Brian was definitely one of Witton’s great managers of all time and a great guy.
His family will be advising me of his funeral arrangements, of which I will post as soon as I know.
Very sorry to hear this, I’ve some great memories of Brian and his teams at the Central Ground. Sincere condolences to his family.

I don’t think it’s an exageration to say there might not be a Witton Albion today if Brian hadn’t done such a great job in building the team back up from rock bottom at a time when the other lot were doing their level best to obliterate us.
I once asked him what his fondest memory of his time at Witton was and he chose the Cheshire Senior Cup win over Northwich at Gresty Road in 1978. Typically he chose that not because of his part in it but because he knew how much it meant to the fans.

i was the mascot at that time and brian had a fantastic team and great passion for the way the game should be played feeling very sad today but gave us all some great memories i think all wittoners would vote that game i was their and going to school the next day was great cheers brian rip

I’m gutted to hear about the loss of Brian. A fantastic manager and a true gentleman.
Respected by all that knew him, his witton team played fantastic football.

Brian Booths funeral will be on 22nd May 1.20pm, at Macclesfield Crematorium.
A most fitting tribute to Brian’s life was the verdict of the many attendees yesterday.
Attending from his era from the Central Ground days were: Dave Griffiths, John Goryl, John Yates, John White, Alex Gibson, Stuart Burton, Brian Griffin, John Walker & Peter Henderson as well of course as his brother Robert.
In addition tributes we received from Bob Fletcher, Mark Fielding, Bob Johnston and Tony Keyes who were unable to attend have been passed on to the family along with Terry Murphys.

RIP Brian, no disrespect to Pritch but my favourite Albion manager, his players would have run through a brick wall for him, it was a great time to be an Albion fan for me.
