Broadheath Central vs Witton Albion U21's Development Squad (Cheshire Cup).

Witton’s U21’s Development Squad are also in cup action on Saturday afternoon when they make the short journey to Cheshire League outfit Broadheath Central in the Cheshire Cup.

The league season hasn’t started too well for the team but it hasn’t been for the want of trying so hopefully, they can put that behind them for the time being and progress to the next round.

Broadheath Central are in good form at present so will prove a tough challenge for the lads but in cup competitions, anything can happen.

Kick off at Salisbury Road is 2pm.

Cheshire Cup - First Round:

Broadheath Central 9 Witton Albion U21’s Development Squad 2.

Witton’s U21’s Development Squad’s involvement in the Cheshire Cup, ended at the first hurdle on Saturday afternoon when they were beaten 9-2 by Cheshire League Broadheath Central.

The hosts went in front inside two minutes and then added a second just three minutes later, before Witton hit back on ten minutes through Michael Woolley and the score remained that way until the 55th minute.

A series of events then turned the tie in the Cheshire League side’s favour, a harsh red card shown to a Witton player reduced the team to ten men and then a player was sin-binned leaving Albion to play for a period of time with nine men.

An injury to the centre half, forcing him to leave the field meant they were then forced to play around 35 minutes with nine men and Broadheath took full advantage of the situation and extended their lead.

Witton managed a second goal in the dying minutes but by then the game was way beyond them and they now turn their attention back to the league.

In truth, the result was harsh on Witton as it didn’t reflect the game as a whole but their cup ambitions are over for another year.
