Some Tweets from Simmo at Burscough::

Long, long grass at @Linnets1946! Just waiting for a teamsheet, although @wittonalbionfc have made at least two changes from Tuesday.

Bit of drama here @Linnets1946; @wittonalbionfc defender Paul Booth has failed a fitness test on his calf. Visitors need to make a change

.@wittonalbionfc had made two changes to team that lost in midweek; Josh Glover and Matt Cross replace Mathew Wood and Shaun Tuck.

Great to see @joeyshaw19 out on the pitch with @wittonalbionfc players before #FACup tie with @Linnets1946 btw.

Looks like @wittonalbionfc will bring back in Mathew Wood to replace injured Paul Booth. Glover to play central defence.

BURSCOUGH 1-3 Witton Albion

Bugger 2-3!

Phew 2-4 Tuck and that’s FT!

Let the dreams commence…

Well El Classico is wasn’t, but a win it was with some dollar into the bank! 3 0 up and cruisin but again failed to build on a convincing lead. At 2 3 it was feeling a bit swetty but Shaun Tuck buggered things up for Burscough with Witton’s fourth in the last few minutes. In truth, the playing surface was awful (probably designed to slow things down and it did). I don’t think the pitch had been cut in at least 3 weeks! and it was a really hot day so all in all “business as usual” and back on winning ways. A couple of injuries are worrying but a welcomed weeks rest now for our troops! SBL

Yes, was a very hard pitch to play on as grass was so long! Well done lads. Crossy did well as did Glover - both looked very composed. Matt Woods is a class act, gets forward so quick and causes all sorts of problems for opposition full backs.

After we went 2 and 3 nil up thought it could have been 10! but credit to Burscough who made a game of it in second half but it was a bit worrying to let them score a couple (like in the Buxton game) Sure that today will give Pritch and Mike stuff to work on as we need to keep switched on for the full 90 mins… but cant be negative after a 4-2 win and money in the bank so roll on next round!

Well done lads UTA :clap

A hoodoo ended this afternoon as Albion hadn’t managed to beat Burscough since 2-1 at the Central Ground (Brian Griffin & Johnny Walker) in a Cheshire League match on May 5th 1979.

Since that day we’d met the Linnets THIRTEEN TIMES (all since 1998) drawing 8 times and losing the other 5 including a 1-6 reverse in the only previous FA Cup encounter.

:clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap

Great stats Chad as always, do keep it up.

Looking forward to Left Peggers blog.
