Big Game tonight people, Burscough on a good run of form at the moment and beaqt hednesford at the weekend! Im hoping to find on this forum tonight when slightly tipsy after a big night of karaoke in the union that we have won and moved to within 2 points of the top of the table! We know you have the ability to do it lads! The whole of the Dundee branch of the Witton Albion Supporter’s Club is behind you tonight! (all one member!) and the Dundee branch shall be making an appearance at the home game of Matlock on Saturday! Come on Witton!
Both Alex Brown and Stevie Connors are suspended. Alex completes his two match ban tonight so will be available on Saturday, Steve will miss Saturday as well.
Blimey gents and ladies, I’ve just logged on hoping to find the latest score. I’m all the way down here in Birmingham hoping that the information superhighway would connect me direct to the action! Not sure if I can wait for a phone call from WHS!

To Telford fan, now you have two teams on your tail, not just one, you might not even make second place!!!

It has been reported on the Unibond website that there’s a possibility that Burscough maybe deducted a point for fielding an ineligible player.
When they played Lincoln United in December, they played a player who was not registered with the league.
The unibond league took the decision to deduct the point gained from the game but, Burscough are appealing against the decision.
Not the best performance of the season really was it!! Doesn’t change that much though, it’s still in our hands. We just need to make sure we bounce back on Saturday.
The one major concern i have is why ‘cheif scout’ wayne porter was at witton on saturday and not watchin the hednesford v burscough game??? i would of thought thats the point in having a scout??? he was also at the Ashton game, when i thought it would of been of more use watching Telford as we were due to play them on the Saturday.
The last 3 away games haven’t been good. Teams are learning how to stop us playing, and we don’t seem to have a Plan B. We all love the football this team plays, but when our usual style isn’t working, things need to change. At the end of the day, we can get away with playing the way we want to about 90% of the time, but i’d rather we spent that remaining 10% grinding out results if it means not being stuck in this league again next year.
I still think we’re in a great position to go up, we just need to get some momentum going again.
I thought the best team won last night, we were put off our usual free flowing passing game by a very industrious and physical Burscough side who can also play a bit!
They won all the 2nd balls and we were never able to get the ball to Rob in any kind of space.
If anyone ever doubts the impact that Stevie Connors has on this team then tonight was the night which showed how important he is to us.
Referee was abysmal,(nothing to do with the reason we lost),he just tried to be the players mate and never stamped any authority on the game. Late tackles and dissent went totally unpunished, performance like that should see him in the Premiership soon!!!
Not the best performance although it looked for 70 minutes like we might leave with at least a point - 1 goal was always going to settle the outcome as neither side created that many chances.
I think we lost it in midfield last night. Every time the ball came out from our defence it was played straight to a Burscough player, at times there was no Witton midfielder within 10 yards of them. We could probably cope with either Brown or Connors missing but not both, for me we can’t play with Peers and Gaghan in the same side, too much width, with neither strong enough to come inside and play a pure midfield role.
Last night’s result was by no means a disaster, they had home advantage and in fairness they are not a bad side (nor were they that impressive)! Going to Burscough and winning was never going to be an easy game and with Warlow absent as well we were not at full strength. (Speaking to Adam briefly he said he would be fit for Saturday).
We still have 30 points to play for, so this league is far from over! We have two games in hand on other play-off contenders (Matlock aside) and still a game in hand on Telford and still to play them at home. If we end up in a play-off position then fine, I believe that we can raise our game and beat any of the teams around us. No need to panic just yet.
I agree we need a Plan B in terms of how we play, last night there were a few times when we tried to be too clever when the simple ball would have been the better option. The number one rule in football "pass and move" is the still the most effective way to play, at times we were playing poor passes into players who then had very little options to release the ball. That said, we remain the best footballing side in this division and I for one are very glad we don’t follow the same pub team approach of kicking the opposition up in the air.
Big game Saturday, however we should be enjoying it and not feeling any pressure, for the majority of football clubs across the country their seasons are already over, we have a lot still to play for and with 10 games ahead it is only just starting.
We played two wingers at Woodley without Connors and it nearly cost us, we paid the price last night, Chris is an asset when we are on top but not when we are under the cosh.
