Early reports from supporters, suggest the second half performance was good but we were left with too much to do especially with ten men against the best side we’ve played this season.
Buxton’s assistant manager said in his post-match comments that “Witton gave them the runaround for about half an hour in the second half.”
Unfortunately, the game is 90 mins and the first half only 2 or 3 witton players put a shift in and then Lingouba’s stupid sending off made life even more difficult.
Second half the lads were fantastic, full of running & played good football a goal and a Wardle header scrambled off the line and arguably, we could have got a point but for me too many went hiding in the first half and that’s where the damage was done.
The second half last night has got to be the minimum standard on Saturday but from 3pm not 3.55pm.
Couldn’t really expect anything there and the table is looking ominous! Realistically our best chance now is beating Hyde and picking up a few more points. If we lose or draw at Hyde, I think we are down and we need to see serious changes for next season.
C.J., my glass is always half full so until it’s mathematically impossible I keep believing. The serious changes you talk about C.J., need to start at the top - i.e. in the boardroom.
WItton need to get a chairman and a proper board of directors because, my understanding is John Salmon made all the decisions with very little or no challenges (correct me if I’m wrong). Then the club regardless of who the manager is, needs to make decisions on are the club happy mid table/bottom half every year. Or are they having a serious go at promotion which may cost money or are Witton afraid of going up due to the costs?
The team need a training base which they haven’t had since November due to some issues with U21s at Moss Farm, the management have been scratching around for training pitches ending up with them training at Skelmersdale’s JMO at 9pm on a Thursday night for an hour.
So yes, whilst it’s not pretty on the pitch there are issues off the pitch which need addressing before the club can move forward.
I think those boardroom changes will evolve, our budget at current levels would I think be competitive if We go down without a sugar Daddy. We need more bums on seats and more commercial activity. I think given our crowds then the league we are in is about right, one lower and our facilities are too good just compare our stadium to say Barnton? Training issues I believe are being looked at.
As to the managernent and the playing side, if they wish to continue being stubborn with certain players and playing so negatively then I for one would not want to see them given a new contract for next season and maybe we should see who is out there, our mgt are on decent money!
