Cheers for the updates wheels. Gutted with the result though! How did they play?
3-1 probably a true reflection on the game, Buxton had the majority of the play 1st half Matt Cooper dropped a cross the ball wasn’t cleared properly and the ball hit both a post and crossbar in a couple of manic seconds. It appeared that Albion would go in at half time on level terms. However on 44 minutes junior schoolboy marking allowed a cross to be headed in totally unchallenged.
The first 15 minutes of the second half Albion had their best spell, and a good cross by Josh Hancock was converted by Kyle Wilson.
Unfortunately parity didn’t last more than five minutes when Ben Harrison was turned very easily and the No 9 converted. Very unlike Ben who’s performances have been a keystone of Albions’ recent successes.
The third goal came after the ball was needlessly conceded in Midfield Ollie James the culprit( I THINK)
. Leaving a deserted defence the pass was easily converted.
The Witton players gave their all, but were not good enough on the day, having said that shorn of 4 players for various reasons it was a result I for one was expecting.
My opinion I am sure others will have theirs.
PS Don’t think a certain New Director will win the prediction competition all season based on his observations before the first goal,
over to you ehmm what’s his name shall I tell them Derek?.
I thought we had a good chance last season because we had a settled team right from day one, it was always going to be harder this season because we have made quite a few changes in the close season. Hopefully we will settle down quite quickly as the big cup games are coming up soon. I do think we have the players but it will take time so we must be patient.

Dissapointing start and Pritch is rightly upset, Buxton deserved to win and we were mostly poor, I am not convinced yet that all will be ok, a few players look really out of sorts and none of the new players look better than we had last season, of course Tuck and Powell and probably Sheehan will come back into the 11 when available for me ! we look so one paced at the moment and James apart we didnt put a tackle in that counts -Sheehan and Powell will help in that respect for sure and the out of the blue experiment of Hancock up front didnt work he really needs to be on the wing I understand why we did it with injuries and missing/unfit strikers. Will tuck be able to play when he is released this week ? or will he have to serve a club or FA suspension first ? as ME said he was not expecting much from Buxton i suggest Marine may be tougher we will have to improve to beat them ! some hard work for the mgt team.
CJ a bit early to sound so despondent, I am sure the team will improve and that Mr. Pritchard will get more out of them. As for Shaun Tuck I am not sure I would want him back at Witton given his racist views that do not fit with our Club’s values though I do understand that financially and football wise he is an asset. I also wonder how well he will react to the verbal attacks he will almost certainly receive from opposition supporters. I hard decision for our management and board.

One of those days at the office unfortunately. Didn’t think there was a great deal between the teams and unfortunately the weather didn’t help the flow of the game. Without being too negative after the first competitive game…

In my opinion, a centre back should never be taking throw-ins. I can’t remember whether it was Buxton’s 2nd or 3rd goal but Marc Joseph took an attacking throw-in deep in the Buxton half, Buxton broke away and there was a huge hole in the centre of our back line! He may have a fair throw on him but I imagine that will cost us more goals than we’ll score.

Although we are missing Powell and Sheehan, I thought we looked a little light weight with Purcell, Andrews, and Hancock all part of the midfield (albeit Josh was playing further forward).

On a positive, I thought Kyle Wilson’s workrate was second to none, we could probably just do with a bit of pace up top to compliment that.
Nothing to be worried about though. A few tweaks and the return of a couple of players will see us in good shape. Now we just need to pick up 6 points in the next 2 games!
Now you’re talking!!! :clap
