Buxton

Lost 1-0. The two forwards must be the worst players ever to put on a Witton shirt. :red

Think that’s a bit harsh especially when we had Martin Ormesher here. Rey is still not 100% fit. You could see that as he faded towards the end of the game but for me his movement off the ball was good first half and I do believe he has pace.

Parkhouse was quiet today but has been ok for us when we’ve asked him to carry out different roles. We weren’t great by any stretch of the imagination but I’ve seen worse. We missed Hancock from the start. Thoughts Gards was excellent in midfield but again fitness showed and he faded.

We’ll bounce back. Got a week now till Marine game so hopefully some of those players with knocks will be fitter.

i thought we started well and Gards was really unlucky not to get a brilliant goal. Then it got pretty messy with lots of niggly fouls from Buxton breaking up the flow. But in the 2nd half - same old story. A forward hasn’t scored from open play for several games and it never really looked like changing today. I know we have injuries and the budget is under huge pressure, so we can’t be too critical’. I didn’t think our opponents were any great shakes today so it was an opportunity to get at least a point wasted. Football crowds don’t take long to get impatient and front men that don’t score surely can’t keep their place indefinitely when others return from injury. Rey is on borrowed time, for me. I’ve seen very little and he must be close to fitness after 3 games, surely ??

I’m also planning to win a massive premium bond soon, so I’ll be giving Mr Titch a ring…

Actually Ormisher did hit the back of the net but the whistle had gone for offside.

I doubt our strike force could be on target in a warm-up.

Bring back Moseley!!! nono nono nono

bring back M M thats the way backward not forward .sick .always a negative with you and you only post when something to moan at.tell pritch your feelings or do us all a favour and dont post on here again mooney

I thought we were good enough to take the three points had we taken our chances 1st half, Bodie was again MOM for me really developing into a good centre half, thought Gardner tried his best to drive us forward, but with absolutely nothing up top it was all in vain.

Not buying this Rey needs match fitness, sorry but match fit or not the chances he has missed you could finish fit or not, I feel for the lad but it just doesn’t seem to be happening for him.

But in a game with players out of position and against a very physical Buxton side, I can’t complain with the effort from 10 of the players.

Witton team

Matt Cooper, Anthony Gardner, Alistair Brown, Cliff Moyo, Rob Bodie, Jonathan Breeze, Jon Dawson, Michael Powell, Aaron Rey, Adam Parkhouse, Danny Andrews.

Subs: Michael Moseley, Ben Harrison, Joshua Crofts, Josh Hancock, Stuart Plant.

sums it up for me and with the budget stretched and the team beset by injuries we cant ask for much more.
As for MM, I imagine GE had his tongue in his cheek. Possibly too subtle.

Can’t remember a poorer forward line from a witton team than today. Surely there are some local lads around who could do a better job. The forwards today weren’t even nuisance value.

If Carlsberg ran an award for the most inept Evo Stick striker performance on yesterdays performance our pair would win it hands down. Its very worrying and our league position seems to be dependent upon how bad other teams perform.
When you look at our recent former strikers who have left for various reasons (Titch, Stotty, Tuck, Forster and more recently Dave Walker) our front two are a country mile off at the moment. It says it all that our leading goal scorer is a left winger!

You know what, now our defence seems OK I would be tempted to play Ben (our own Peter Crouch) at centre forward. Get in the positions Ben, mix it up and see what happens. RANT OVER… SBL

MoM for me was Gards, top display. :clap

Expected more from Buxton tbh but they were clearly beatable back 5 played well gards for me was mom he’s a great player, but as others have said strike force wasn’t at the game, the only decent game parkhouse has had is at left midfield and rey whilst looking a bit fitter first half tired badly second half and looks like a rabbit in front of goal, 3 very easy chances missed in 2 games are there any updates on Wilson and Thompson injuries ? We need options for sure I too think there must be better options around in div 1 or maybe lower who are young fit and hungry to improve and succeed.

[quote=“jonnyamery” post=52419]I , Bodie was again MOM for me really developing into a good centre half,

We gave Buxton at least 5 free headers in our box from set pieces. The bloke behind me also said the centre backs played well. It must be just me.

Well seeing as set pieces are defended as a team, then not sure how you can lay the blame at the centre halfs feet?

I don’t lay the blame at their feet, I lay the blame at their heads, boom, boom. (and positional skills when defending a set piece but that doesn’t do the joke any justice).
