Carlton Town vs Witton Albion Academy.

Witton’s Academy team kick off their 2019/20 NPL Football Academy campaign on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Carlton Town in a Joma Division fixture. The team enjoyed a successful season last time around, finishing third in the Joma Division and also reaching the Semi Finals of the NPL Football Academy Cup. The new campaign may well see a number of new faces in the team but under Coach Avron Franklin, they will be looking to progress with their footballing career as well as their education. The last two seasons has seen students progress upto first team level and there is no reason why that pathway can’t be continued in the future. Stefan Sorensen is testament to what can be achieved as he has followed Owen Wynne’s progression into the first team set up, and has already made his first team debut in the Northern Premier League this season. Carlton Town are new opponents for Witton at Academy level but they will be looking to get off to a positive start. The game is being played at The Bill Stokeld Stadium with a 1pm kick off.
