Cheshire Cup Prelim Round

How come teams in lower divisions (and other counties :stuck_out_tongue: )get byes and exemptions?

Think the four exemptions are last year’s semi-finalists and the byes are just down to the luck of the draw.

It is stupid if the CFA want the bigger clubs to play stronger teams in the cup then they should get the byes and leave the little clubs Barnton, Alsager, 1874 etc to play in the prelims.

So 14 of the 23 teams that have entered the competition have to initially play, so that they can get down to the 16 for the next round.

To then call this a Preliminary Round imo degrades the clubs, some of whom are Football League clubs remember. Surely the CCFA should revert to First, Second, Third, and Semi-Final Rounds to help give it more impact.

Having watched the video of the Draw then fine it appears luck of the draw as to whom of the 5 clubs, out of the 19 not exempt, end up with a bye. What I would suggest though is they get something better than what looks like slips of paper to be inside the bag.

I do hope that the Alex honour the true spirit of what was once one of the best County competitions in the country and agree to use Gresty Road for the match.

Be interesting to see when the tie actually gets played, the week down for it then we are due to host Rushall Olympic but that would be postponed should either they or ourselves draw in the FA Trophy the previous Saturday.

i hope so as well chad. its round the corner from me

Good news for you Lutkie

This tie has been arranged to be played on Wednesday October 8th at Gresty Road with a 7:45pm kick-off.

Furthermore, reduced Admission prices have been applied from the Alex’s normal charges.

This now of course means that the Albion’s scheduled home mid-week league game versus newcomers Stourbridge is postponed, with the new date for the fixture to be arranged.
