Witton’s U21’s Development Squad are in action on Friday night when they travel to Cheshire Lines FC in a pre season friendly. The lads have had a break since they suffered a 5-0 defeat at the hands of a very good Heswall team eight days ago.
Since their last outing, the team are now under new management following the departure of James Kane and appointment of Peter Griffiths earlier in the week. Along with Rich Tomkinson & Rob Brookfield, the game will give the new management team the first opportunity to have a look at their new charges and the players will be looking to impress.
The game is being played at Southmead Road in Garston with a 6.30pm kick off.

Pre Season Friendly:
Cheshire Lines FC 2 Witton Albion U21’s Development Squad 2.
A game full of incident and chances at both ends, combined with some excellent goalkeeping made for great entertainment at Cheshire Lines FC on Friday night.
The hosts fell behind on 7 minutes when the ball broke to Albion striker Tom Shone and he drove it past the keeper from inside the area. Witton’s lead was short-lived as Dharo equalised for the home side on 9 minutes from close-range after the ball had struck the Albion crossbar.
There were numerous chances for both sides but it wasn’t until the 42nd minute that Lines went in front, when Porteous latched onto a loose ball in the Albion area and beat the goalkeeper from a few yards out. So Witton went in 2-1 behind at the break.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with yet more chances and more excellent goalkeeping at either end until the 80th minute where Albion got the equaliser they deserved. A long cross from the right was met by Witton defender Josh Wrench and his towering header which nestled inside the post.
An exciting encounter between two good teams and neither team really deserved to lose so, a fair result in the end.
