Chester Sat 12th March

0-0 is a great achievement but with Bamber Bridge winning with Neil Black scoring we drop back to 8th !

The team were a credit today - worked their socks off, I think we just about had 11 fit players to pick from. We had to play Ben up front again and he did ok - he missed a sitter as did Callum. Kearns had a brilliant game and had a superb shot cleared off the line. 2700 crowd but didn’t hear a peep out of most of them. I honestly don’t remember Chester having a shot on target. Was cold in the away end though - about a dozen Witton fans turned blue!

Great game, every player a credit to Witton .could have won 3-0 but that is football.

Really well done to the Albs the only team not to concede against Chester this season (I think)a fantastic effort! I was gutted to miss this game due to work today, come on the ALBIOOOON!

A fantastic result with every player doing their bit,in particular Ennion and Hancock.

Chester gave a home debut to football league stalwart Martin Gritton. In fairness to Gritton he had a good first half but he finished the game in a subdued manner due to to our centre back partnership.

The Chester Chron. claims we were happy to put men behind the ball,i think that is a huge injustice.

The captain, putting in a captains performance nearly scored the winning goal.Young Josh nearly scored the winning goal.Yes at times during the second half we were a little bit light up-front but at no time during the game did we look to spoil.

The biggest threat in the latter stages came from the referee, who always had a penalty up his sleeve for the blues.Thankfully he ran out of time.

I thought that all of the players were a credit to the club today. They kept their shape well through most of the game and seemed to stick to the tasks that they were all given. Went a little “raggy” in the last 5 or so minutes but thats to be expected. Great gate over 2,700, quality pitch and excellent facilites at Chester. Witton could have easily won by a couple of goals but it wasn’t to be. I don’t remember our keeper having a direct shot to save but in saying that, he looked commanding particularly when they launched crosses into the box for the big striker. There seemed to be a lot of Witton fans at the game who should be proud of their team as I was. SBL

Before the game would have been really happy with a draw but in the end was a little dissapointed that we didnt get all 3 points. Was a very good team performance with my m o m Kearns ,best game hes had for a while . Good turn out of witton fans who out sang 2,000 + Chester supporters . Got a bit jittery last 5mins but held out well no thanks to the ref who was a homer and gave every 50/50 tackle to them.

Fantastic performance and an exciting 2nd half. Very proud day to be a wittoner. Kearney man of the match without a shadow of a doubt and keeper was excellent. Great day out at a club with good fans and facilities. We have bottled it in the past against big clubs but yesterday we had a game plan, stuck to it and should have come back with 3 points - but a draw was still excellent.

Not really a lot to be seen on this clip from a Chester fans phone behind the goal, apart from maybe a good example on 1.00 minute how the ref was desperate to gift them something

You definitely met us on an off-day, but you played well and were one of the most organised sides I’ve seen at the Deva. We didn’t really even have a half-chance all game, and I think if I were a Witton fan I would’ve been a bit disappointed not to have won.

Regarding the lack of home chanting, I thought the same at the time but I didn’t realise that a lad behind the goal (where most of the chanting comes from) had an epileptic fit at the start of the game and had to be taken away by paramedics, which perhaps explains the subdued atmosphere. Second half we were a bit noisier but the team didn’t really give us much to shout about.

Anyway good luck for the season, I think there’s a lot of respect between our two clubs and I hope you can somehow sneak a playoff place, ideally at the expense of those horrible Chorley muppets.

Echo everything said before, great performance, should have had 3 points to show for it, well done to everyone involved, Kearns MOM, everyone else a close second.
