I will update on here how much was raised once i have the figure from St Lukes.

Thanks to everyone who played and supported. Big thanks once again to the Lyons for their help.

Good work boys, some good news at last!

This is a great initiative, it raises much needed funds for St Lukes (who are a very worthy local charity), it also is a fantastic opportunity for the fans to represent their clubs and play in front of a crowd on a decent pitch. Everyone is a winner with this and hopefully it will still be being played in 5, 10, 20 years time as a showpiece for local football. Eventually during this period I may actually be in the country to watch one of these games!

Well done to all.

:cheer: Great game and good result

Do i get the assist 4 there OG robbo since it was me who put the cross in for that great finish :woohoo:   :woohoo:

Excellent game and we (eventually) got the win we deserved. It’s a bit disappointing the amount of sour grapes coming from the VS but that’s to be expected. Maybe they won’t have the green ribbons on the winners medals BEFORE the game next year!!!

I’m going to try and arrange a team photo in full kit with the trophy down at WP over the summer.

How would everyone feel about doing that?

Witton raced into an early lead after some excellent play by Nigel Deeley on the right flank. After turning the Vics Fullback inside and out, Nige produced a floated far-post cross that SHAUN CARTER gleefully tucked into the Northwich net for 1 nil.

Further joy for Witton and Shaun Carter was to be found soon afterwards, as the nippy winger put a low cross into the Vics area, only for LEE MORGAN to lash the ball into the top corner of his own goal for 2 nil.

At 2 nil, Witton began to lose their shape, allowing Northwich to get back into the game. However, a swift counter-attack saw Millington launch a high ball up the pitch which Lee Morgan failed to clear. As Morgan stumbled, ANDY CHADWICK raced in and launched the ball over the keepr’s head and into the back of the Northwich goal from about 30 yards out. A great goal, and this really should have been game over.

The second half saw Vics grab 2 early goals, to make the last half hour of the game a nervy contest. Not least when Millington was adjudged to have handled outside of his area, and Vics had the chance to convert from 18 yards out. Fortunately for Millington, the freekick was well off target.

As the game entered it’s final moments Witton looked to have fought their way to a well-earned 3 - 2 victory. However, the referee had other ideas. As Millington collected a high ball from within his 6 yard box, the referee spotted an infringement and blew his whistle. Both teams retreated, expecting a foul had been given on the Keeper. The referee had infact given a penalty to Northwich for an alleged push by De Grey. Witton were furiuos at the award of this spot kick, and also at the miss by the officials of a blatant foul-throw leading up this incident. Vics converted the kick to make it 3 - 3.

And so on to penalties.

With neither team missing, the score was tied at 8 - 8 when Vics hit the cross bar. With Witton now only having to score their penalty to win the Trophy, the officials again had other idea and awarded a re-take! With Witton bemoaning what appeared to be further disjustice, Dave Millington made himself a hero by fantasticaly saving the re-taken kick. Captain Adam Clarke then stepped up to seal Witton’s victory - amid scenes of obvious jubilation from those wearing red and white.

So the Trophy will reside at Wincham Park until the next meeting of these 2 sets of supporters. With the wins now standing at 1 a piece, it will certainly add further spice to next year’s event.

Well done to all concerned, and special mention to Robbo and the V@cs guys who made the event happen. Its easy for us all to turn up and play, but from experience I know how much effort goes into making an event like this happen.

Any idea on the most important matter of all - How much we raised for St.Lukes?

Still waiting for them to send me the details so i can get the £4£ from Barclays.

Presumably they’ll sort the finances out quicker than they sorted the York and Telford monies out!!!

Well Done Robbo btw

With the £4£ matched-fundraising, we raised about £700 for St Lukes.

Thanks to all who took part.
