Witton return to action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Clitheroe in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture.

John Macken’s team have been inactive since they played Crewe Alexandra in the Cheshire Senior Cup Second Round due to the weather, so will be hopeful of getting back on track in the league, as they go in search of three more crucial points as they bid to reach the play offs.

Clitheroe sit in seventh place in the table two points ahead of the Albion and having played a game more.

Their last outing saw them pick up a very creditable point from leaders Macclesfield FC, so they will go into the game in a confident mood.

The Blues have undergone a change in their management structure in recent weeks with player manager Billy Priestley stepping down and his assistant Dave Dempsey taking the reins, having only joined the club recently.

The Lancashire club have played eleven league games at home so far, with five wins two draws and four defeats.

Witton go into the game off the back of an unbeaten league run of eight games, stretching back to November when Leek Town won 2-1 at the U Lock It Stadium so, will be looking to continue that run in what could prove to be a tough test.

The reverse fixture at the U Lock It Stadium was keenly contested and the points were shared in a 1-1 draw, Connor Hughes netting for the Albion in the dying minutes after Reece Webb-Foster had given the Blues the lead.

Victory would see Witton climb above their opponents but they will have to perform to earn the right result.

Kick off at the Eco Giants Stadium is 3pm.

The unbeaten run comes to an end and Albion slip to tenth in the table but we go again at home to Kidsgrove Athletic next Saturday.

4-1 flatters them but they deserved to win, we were a bit rusty and wasteful with the ball allowing them possession too often.

Clitheroe played well, very in your face pretty dirty actually and allowed to get away with it by a poor ref. Losing Barrow and Fogerty didn’t help us really and the game ran away!

Too many players not up to scratch today but we know we are a good side, just need to get back into our rhythm. UTA
