Colne FC v. Witton Albion

Witton travel to Colne FC in a re arranged Northern Premier League West Division fixture on Tuesday night after the original game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Since the fixture fell victim to the weather, John Macken’s team have embarked on a four-game unbeaten run and have propelled themselves to eleventh in the league table having taken eight points from the last dozen on offer.

Colne have also found a slight improvement in form although the lack of wins means the still find themselves in the lower reaches of the division going into the game.

One win, two draws and only one defeat from their previous four league games, particularly a hard-earned point at the weekend against leaders Macclesfield FC gives them cause for optimism.

Witton’s management team return to the former employers for the first time since taking over at the U Lock It Stadium so will want to put one over their former club and hopefully keep their recent good form going.

Three Albion players will also return to familiar surroundings for a short while as Prince Haywood, Kingsley Williams and Elliot Rokka have all worn Colne’s colours in the past so there is an added incentive to perform during the game.

Teams at the lower end of the table have proven to be tough opponents for Witton in the past and Colne will provide a different challenge as they bid to climb away from danger and go in search of points.

The last few weeks has seen leading scorer Joe Duckworth hit a barren spell in front of goal but
the form of Connor Hughes has been encouraging and his return of five goals in two games, has helped the team to reach a relatively safe position for the time being.

Victory would see Witton climb into the top ten and get them closer to those coveted play off places but the important thing is the three points and they will have to perform to their best in order to achieve it.

Kick off at Holt House is 7.45pm.

It shows our improvement when I’m disappointed after a draw at Colne, but considering no Barrow, Rokka and Harrison off and Heywood sent off, not a bad point. UTA
