I will probably get slated for this but anyway, what benefit is the reserve team to Witton? They seem to get beat every game, no players ever come through from the reserves, they play extra games on a pitch that is already struggling to cope, plus there is the cost of using the ground lighting, heating, floodlights etc.
Also the cost of the officials which is always more than we take on the gate.
Travelling is also a big expense, as they play in the Lancashire league, so games against Bootle are one of the closest fixtures. I think the standard is higher than the Cheshire league though, which is why they use it. Woody is spot on about covering the refs though; the club have to subsidise it along with a couple of nameless Wittoners who always stick £20 in the pot.
As for why we do it, I think the aim is to have a clear pathway from the junior set up through to the first team. Sadly not many have come through recently but I think that’s more to do with quality than anything else. Pritch is down there at the home games watching the matches mostly.
Regardless of that, it is nice to get down and see them. Mostly its parents but its good to see games under the floodlights with not many people there. A lot different from the usual matchday experience. So get down next Thursday and judge for yourself what the point it

 sounds like most of our home games this season to be honest
See you next thursday then
To be i honest i enjoy going to watch the rezzies. There’s always goals and it’s nice to go home not feeling too gutted if they get beat plus it’s only £2 to get in.
Not sure if it isn’t time to look at a partnership with one of the many local clubs?
Lostock, Barnton, Rudheath? All have decent set ups.
In regards to first team attendances, not sure where the belief that these are poor is coming from? Averaging 331, which is the 10th best in the league. We’re sat 21st in the table, so attendances are much better than our league standing.
Also, apart from last season, if you look back at our attendances over the last 4 or 5 years then we’ve rarely averaged above 300. Even in the promotiion season our attendances were usually in the mid 200s until the run in.
Going back to the pre-JV years, i don’t think we ever averaged more than about 250?
I also think one of the reasons given for JD losing his job was that attendances had failed to hit 300?
Historically, anything around the 300 - 350 mark at this level is good.
I agree that we can, and often do, pull in more casual fans than we currently are. Hopefully when we start to get the junior teams down again then that will bring averages up.
There needs to be a more positive outlook around the Club if we want to attract new fans to Wincham Park, and to bring old fans back into the fold.
We do need more money coming in, so extra bodies through the turnstiles helps massively.
If anybody has any suggestions on how we can put numbers on the gate, then now is probably a good time to get heads together and formulate a plan for 2014.
According to the League website, next weeks game at home to Fylde is Tuesday NOT Thursday.
I’ll ask Lisa to check it out tomorrow, as she has it down the same as me as a Thursday game.
The match officials have been appointed to the game, scheduled with the League, for THURSDAY next week.

Hi Derek,
I have just double checked with the league website, and it has it down for the 23rd Jan next Thursday?
Thanks Jeff, it was definitely Tuesday’s date I saw 21st because my immediate thoughts were the first team playing at Stalybridge the same night. Thank you for clearing the confusion up.
