Congleton Town v. Witton Albion (FAC Pr.)

Witton kick off their Emirates FA Challenge Cup campaign on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Midland Football League Premier Division Congleton Town in a Preliminary Round tie.

The Bears enjoyed a successful season last time round with an excellent excellent run in the FA Vase which saw them reach the Semi Finals and they also won the Cheshire Senior Cup by overcoming Altrincham on penalties.

Their Midland Football League Premier Division season kicked off last weekend with a 2-0 defeat at Lichfield City and they were due to host Uttoxeter Town in their opening home gamer on Tuesday night.

The game on Saturday sees the return of Albion striker Tom Pope, who gave excellent service to the Bears during his time there and he is likely to come up against former Witton defender Darren Chadwick.

FA Cup games have a habit of throwing up a few upsets and Jon Macken will be doing his utmost to make sure that Witton are not amongst them.

Kick off at the Cleric Stadium is 3pm.
