Crewe Alex

Lost 2.1 but there were a lot of positives from this game , the Crewe team were a lot stronger than they would normally have put out for this competition. Witton played as a team instead of a group of individuals as in the past month.
A tremendous work rate by all involved and in my opinion apart from the usual stupid booking for Powell a performance that gives me room for optimism and that is very unusual for me.

Have to agree!!!

Hi All, i will be producing highlights, interviews etc… (including tonight)

1st half - a bit too much respect and a lot of ball domination by Crewe (As expected) however, second half, worked for each other, played for each other and had it not been for a fine save and a huge slice of luck Albion may have took the lead, and it would of been a different story.

A great effort against a very strong Crewe side

I thought we worked hard but tired near the end, unfortunately we still had some bad characteristics of recent ie sloppy passing poor defensive errors and missing good chances, when Danny missed 2 easy chances to put us 1 up we immediately let them in with 2 poor bits of play to go 2-0 up, still lots of work to do, and I will be surprised if he can do it without bringing in some new blood.

Ps were Crewe that strong ? I asked one of there fans and He said it only had a sprinkling of first team squad players and a couple of them were coming back from injury

Can’t fault the effort. One or two mistakes but considering these are professionals I though we gave them a great game and they’ll be relieved to get through in 90 minutes. A fully deserved standing ovation as the players left the pitch.

In fairness to Crewe they carved us open for the goal but after an hour and a quarter against a fitter side its hard to blame the lads. Really impressed with the keeper who came in at the last minute and pulled off a few great saves.

The real stuff starts on saturday for Tony and his team I reckon. There were never going to be too many at Kings Lynn, and tonight was the Cheshire Cup, so hopefully we can get back past the 300 barrier for the first home game and get a much needed win. If we carry on where we left off tonight we will do. UTA.

Can’t fault the team last night, great effort, well set up, a lot more compact and against full time professional, fringe/1st team or academy on quite a heavy pitch (although it looked like a bowling green!) the fact we tired towards the very end was hardly a surprise.

First half cautious and organised, 2nd half more expansive and creative and we obviously had a great chance to win the game (Danny didn’t miss - the keeper saved it btw).

At 2 nil down the lads didn’t give up and came back with a very good goal, carry on like that and we won’t have too many problems getting this season back on track.

Special word for the keeper, has to be mom after coming in at late notice - what a debut!
